Pras Michel, popularly known as Pras, has revealed he is hoping for a presidential pardon from President Donald Trump. As reported by TMZ, the 52-year-old rapper and producer said he looked forward to bringing Trump's attention to his fraud case. TMZ got hold of the rapper as he cruised around in his Lamborghini.

He revealed to them:

"It's not a secret we're working on a pardon. My team, we're hopeful we're gonna prevail. When you talk about lawfare and selective prosecution, [Trump and I] probably have that in common. The last Justice Department was probably a little bit egregious. That's what we have justice for. You just got to trust the process."

Pras Michel continued:

"All we can do is wish the best for him. We all gotta play our part… Obviously, I hope he turns an eye on me. Nonetheless, though, it's only been 60-something days."

Apart from speaking on his case, Pras also brought up Tory Lanez's. The producer expressed his wish for Lanez to receive a pardon. He also revealed that he was hoping for Lanez to receive a pardon from California Governor Gavin Newsom since it's a state case under California's jurisdiction.

"The president can't pardon him because it's a state situation; the president only pardons federal, but the governor? Yeah. Big up to Tory Lanez. I see you, baby!"

More details on Pras Michel's political controversies

Pras Michel's legal battle first started in 2019 when the United States Department of Justice indicted the rapper on charges of participating in an alleged criminal conspiracy with Jho Low. Pras Michel was accused of aiding in the illegal transfer of approximately $865,000 from foreign entities into then-President Barack Obama's 2012 presidential campaign.

In 2021, more charges were added to his list for allegedly running a backchannel campaign to get Donald Trump's administration to drop an investigation into Jho Low and the 1MBD investment company. Fast-forward to 2023, Pras was found guilty of 10 criminal counts and faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison. He is still free on bond pending appeals.

Pras's reliance on President Trump lies in the fact that the Justice Department of the past presidential administration found both him and Donald Trump guilty. He claims that they share the same enemy.
