Graham Linehan was recently arrested by the police at Heathrow Airport over three X (formerly Twitter) posts.

On September 3, Elon Musk retweeted Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling's tweet, linked to Graham Linehan's arrest, that read:

"The UK: where a comedy writer is met with armed police because he tweeted that if a man refuses to leave a woman-only space, he should get kicked in the balls, and elected politician @IanRBristow is free to publicly tell a woman to shut the f*ck up with a picture of a gun."

Elon Musk captioned his repost with:

"Instead of the police in the UK protecting the public from violent criminals, they spend their limited resources on arresting comedians for social media posts! Shame, shame, shame! Give them the white feather of craven cowardice. 🪶"

Linehan also shared that his bail conditions prohibit him from using the X platform.

Graham Linehan responds to the claims made by Helen Lewis

The news of Linehan's arrest was widely reported by various media outlets. On September 3, Helen Lewis, a staff writer for The Atlantic, tweeted about Linehan, writing:

"Graham Linehan thinks I'm a "cynical, careerist hack" because I don't share his views. I think he's an obsessive, rude jerk. But I also don't think that should be illegal."

The post got the attention of many, including Wine With Woman host Helen Staniland, who wrote:

"Yes, people who are prepared to stick their heads above the parapet will often say quite difficult things."

A few hours later, Graham also replied to the claims made by Helen on his Substack account. The post read:

"I want to make it clear that I was never rude to Helen Lewis before she baselessly called me ‘cruel’ to her American readers. I realised later it was because Helen likes to pander to crossdressers by observing their pronouns, even to the extent of calling Imane Khelif ‘she’ after he was revealed to be male."

He continued:

"As with Jesse Singal and Katie Herzog, another pair of journalists more concerned with retaining their places on the dinner party circuit than doing the right thing, I did nothing but support her until that point. She is a fraud as a journalist and a feminist, and supports child transition, calling attempts to stop it ‘maximalist’."

In another post on Substack, Graham also shared an eleven-minute audio recording of his arrest. Captioning it, he wrote:

"I just remembered that I had the gumption to press record on Otter before I started speaking to the police. You can hear my disbelief at being arrested and you can hear my anger, which I think is reason enough to post."
