"She remains on oxygen": Social media influencer Ashley Stock shares NICU update on newborn Benny May in new post

Ashley Stock's newborn daughter is still in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). The influencer and her husband, Ben Stock, welcomed their daughter via surrogacy. Benny May was born on June 30. However, after her birth, she was taken to the NICU unit.

According to Ashley,

"Benny was born at 36 weeks with ABO incompatibility and also likely has hereditary spherocytosis—both of these caused a VERY high bilirubin at birth, which got her a ticket to the NICU."

In the new Instagram post uploaded on July 6, Ashley updated fans on Benny's health through the statement:

"Benny’s health concerns are being well managed and she is getting closer to coming home each day."

She added:

"Benny’s bilirubin numbers are improving every day but she is having some trouble maintaining healthy oxygen levels on her own. She has graduated from four therapy lights down to one 💪 but she remains on oxygen until she is breathing more consistently on her own 🙏"

Ashley Stock has not yet disclosed when Benny will be able to leave the NICU and come home. Fans are waiting for Ashley to reveal more details in her upcoming posts.

Ashley Stock opens up on grief in the new social media post

In the new post, while providing Benny's health update, Stock also opened up on grief and concern for other children in the NICU by adding:

"There are so many other babies who have been here for weeks or longer with concerns far more complicated and my heart aches for their anxious and exhausted parents and loved ones. Experiencing the loss of a child continues to open doors to a lot of grief filled rooms for us."

Ashley Stock and Ben Stock lost their three-year-old daughter, Stevie, in 2020 to diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a type of brain tumor.

Ashle has openly shared her journey with Stevie and the experience of losing a child on social media. In May, the social media influencer uploaded a post wishing her an eighth birthday and mentioning Benny through the statement:

"I can feel your excitement about being an older sister. I know you’ll be near, smiling and dancing and sending her little whispers from the stars. You’ll teach her in your own way—about laughter, about bravery, about how love doesn’t end when someone is gone. And oh, how loved she will be."

Following the health update, many fans took to the comments to show their support for the couple. They also sent prayers for Benny’s health and wished her a quick recovery in the comments.
