Sophia Hutchins laid to rest in Los Angeles after tragic ATV accident, Caitlyn Jenner mourns long-time friend

Caitlyn Jenner has been mourning her long-time friend Sophia Hutchins, who tragically passed away on July 2, 2025, following a fatal ATV crash. As per TMZ’s accounts, the 29-year-old was driving her ATV along Caitlyn Jenner’s street in Malibu when she collided with the bumper of another vehicle, causing her to veer off the road and fall off a 350-foot cliff.

Sophia Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene. TMZ notes that officials have been investigating speeding as a possible factor in the accident.

“It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, the other party, and then that caused her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,” Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo told MailOnline.

“It doesn’t seem like she was following them. I think she just she came up on them and then hit the car. So it looked like she tried to manoeuvre to go around it, but she was going too fast and just ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda, causing her to veer off and go off the cliff there,” he added.

Documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Sophia Hutchins was laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Culver City, Los Angeles. Sources also disclosed to the publication that Caitlyn Jenner has been a strong source of support to her late friend's family, most especially her mom Amy.

According to the source, Caitlyn opened the doors of her home to Amy to stay in while they try to push through the grief that Sophia’s death brought along.

“Both devastated, Caitlyn and Amy have been leaning on each other for support during this incredibly difficult time,” TMZ reports.

Contrary to what most might believe, Sophia Hutchins and Caitlyn Jenner were not involved romantically.

“Caitlyn is a parent to me. I have said that a million times. It is a parental, familial relationship,” Sophia said.

Hutchins was a friend and assistant to Caitlyn. Before her death, she was living with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star and appeared in Caitlyn’s reality show I Am Cait, a spinoff from KUWTK.

“We have so much in common; we see the world so similarly, and we both are such a good match for each other because we challenge each other,” Sophia told People magazine in an interview.

“She challenges me in so many ways, has allowed me to grow in so many ways, and I hope I challenge her to grow, and I think because we share so many of the same passions and views, it’s just a great match, a great partnership.”

Caitlyn Jenner has not made a detailed public comment since the accident. Her choice to stay silent has caused many to wonder how she was coping with the loss of a close friend.
