"The President called me personally" – Savannah Chrisley claims Trump called from nowhere at Sam’s Club

Savannah Chrisley says that on May 27, 2025, she was walking into her local Sam’s Club when her phone rang.

“The President called me personally as I was walking into Sam’s Club and notified me that he was signing pardon paperwork for both of my parents,” she said in an Instagram video.

Savannah dropped to her knees in disbelief.

“So, both my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow. I still don’t believe it’s real. I’m freaking out,” she added.

Background on why Todd and Julie Chrisley were in prison

Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted in late 2022 of tax evasion and bank fraud after a trial that followed a 2019 indictment. Prosecutors said the couple had submitted false financial records to obtain over $30 million in loans and had hidden income to reduce their tax bill.

Todd received a 12-year sentence, Julie got seven years, and both were ordered to pay about $17.8 million in restitution. They began serving time in January 2023.

What Savannah Chrisley said about her parents’ situation

In her video, Savannah Chrisley spoke calmly about the burden she carried.

“I have shed so many tears,” she said

Noting how she took on care of her younger brother Grayson and niece Chloe while attending to her parents’ legal fight. She also described the tough conditions her mother faced:

“The heat index was 105–110 degrees, and there’s no air conditioning outside the visitation room. It’s beyond inhumane.”

After the call, Savannah Chrisley and her siblings began making plans. She said they gathered clothes, cleaned bedrooms, and stocked the kitchen.

“My brother and I ran around getting sheets and towels,” she explained

Describing how they decorated a room with fresh flowers. Savannah Chrisley noted that friends offered help with meals and errands so the family could focus on welcoming Todd and Julie back.


Details of Trump’s pardon announcement

President Trump publicly confirmed the pardons in a video clip released by his team. He said he did not know the Chrisleys personally but had seen their story in the media.

“I thought they had been treated very harshly,” he said,

adding that he expected the paperwork to be signed by May 28. A White House official told E! News that the pardon documents would be finalized before the end of that day.

Savannah’s plans to advocate for legal change

Savannah Chrisley said she wants to use this moment to push for small reforms. She plans to call for virtual resentencing hearings so families do not have to travel long distances for court dates. She also hopes to improve housing standards for women in prison, ensuring they have access to cooler, safer facilities.

“No one should face conditions like my mom did,” she said,

emphasizing that her parents’ release is part of a larger push for fairness.

With Todd and Julie possibly free as early as May 28, 2025, the family looks ahead to rebuilding daily life. Savannah hopes to return to simple routines, family dinners, bedtime stories, and weekend outings.

She also plans to include this unexpected reunion in their upcoming Lifetime series. While the pardon brings relief, Savannah Chrisley reminded viewers that many people still wait for clemency.

“This isn’t just our victory,” she said. “It’s a reminder that justice can reach those who need it most.”
