Bill Gates has taken the internet by storm after the reports confirmed his appearance on the popular Korean variety talk show, You Quiz on the Block, in August 2025.
According to Soompi, the announcement was made on August 18, 2025, by tvN. Bill Gates, whose real name is William Henry Gates III, is best known as the co-founder of Microsoft Corporation, which he started in 1975 along with friend Paul Allen.
Today Bill Gates is recognized as a global tech pioneer and philanthropist. The Gates Foundation, which he founded with Melinda French Gates, is reportedly the third-wealthiest charitable foundation in the world. The organization addresses issues including climate change, poverty eradication, education and healthcare.
The news of his appearance on the Korean talk show has caught the netizens off-guard. A user wrote on X,

Social media users have given mixed reactions to the news that Bill Gates is set to appear on the Korean talk show, You Quiz on the Block, in August. Reactions ranged from disbelief to shock. Sample a few,

A few users didn't seem too amazed by Gates' appearance on the show, though others were clearly excited.

While reflecting on their decision to invite the Microsoft co-founder on their show, CJ ENM’s Nam Seung Yong said:

Gates made headlines this year after he announced to donate 99% of his wealth, around $200 billion, to philanthropic causes, which will focus on improving health and education in Africa over the next two decades, according to a report in the BBC.
Gates made this commitment while giving an address at the African Union (AU) headquarters. He said:
“I recently made a commitment that my wealth will be given away over the next 20 years. The majority of that funding will be spent on helping you address challenges here in Africa.”
He added:
“By unleashing human potential through health and education, every country in Africa should be on a path to prosperity – and that path is an exciting thing to be part of.”
According to reports in the Korean outlets, Gates is scheduled to appear on You Quiz on the Block sometime in August.
