Hybe Corporation, the agency representing Korean pop band BTS member Jungkook, issued a brief statement addressing the ongoing dating rumours between him and aespa member Winter.

Korean media outlet My Daily has reported that a representative from the organization told them:

“We are checking.”

The statement was shared on X by an account, @wntrult. So far, the organization has neither confirmed nor denied the news. This marks HYBE's first public acknowledgement of the latest wave of speculation.

SM Entertainment, aespa's agency has not yet commented publicly on the matter. However, fans are urging it to step up, calling on it to take legal action against the malicious rumours.

The latest wave of speculation began after a post on theqoo, an online Korean forum known for celebrity discussions, went viral showcasing both Jungkook and Winter’s similar tattoos near their elbows.

It amassed thousands of views and comments within hours, with the news spreading to other forums such as Nate Pann, where a similar post gained 85k views. The news comes amid Bang Si-hyuk’s fraud controversy.

Netizens claim Jungkook x Winter rumors are a Hybe Corporation distraction from Bang PD scandal

Several posts online from fans caused dating rumors between Jungkook and Winter to explode onto Korean sites and social media within hours of a South Korean court freezing a hundred million worth of shares owned by Bang Si-hyuk the founder of Hybe Corporation due to ongoing controversy.

The Korea Times reported that the asset preservation order is to ensure that they can be seized if Bang is found guilty of stock trading. It comes after Seoul Southern District Court approved the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s request in November to reportedly seize Bang's Hybe shares.

An official from the company told Korean media outlet, Yonhap that the asset preservation is a routine procedure and does not indicate a judgment on guilt, adding that the company has cooperated fully with investigators and is awaiting the outcome.

The statement given by a representative of Hybe read:

“The preservation of collection is a standard procedural step and does not constitute a judgment on guilt or innocence. We have cooperated sincerely during the investigation and are awaiting the authorities’ decision.”

A report in Korea's JoongAng Daily stated that Bang Si-hyuk had been accused of misleading investors by claiming no listing plans, inducing them to sell shares cheaply to a private equity fund linked to Hybe executives.

In addition to the viral tattoo pictures circulating on social media photos of Jungkook attending aespa’s concert resurfaced online intensifying speculation. The images showed a masked figure which netizens identified as the BTS singer based on his build and clothing. A bodyguard accompanied him.

During that time, Jungkook was on leave from his military training. Fans claimed that he was seated in the VIP section, however, there was no direct evidence of them communicating during the concert.

Jungkook’s appearance at the aespa concert took everyone by surprise, as he had never attended other concerts under the Hybe label, such as NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM or ILLIT.
