The Bodak Yellow singer and rapper, Cardi B, took the witness stand on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, during the second day of the trial in Alhambra, Los Angeles, where she was sued by security guard Emani Ellis over an alleged 2018 confrontation at a Beverly Hills medical office, according to ABC 7.

As per reports by TMZ, Cardi B told the court that the security guard, Ellis, was recording her without her consent. The two then got into a verbal fight, and she also admitted calling the security guard a “b*tch” during the confrontation.

She then said that the fight was only verbal and that they never had a physical fight.

Emani Ellis, the security guard at the time of the incident, accused Cardi B of allegedly assaulting her. She said on Monday, August 26, 2025, during the beginning of the trial that Cardi spat, used racial slurs, and scratched her face with long fingernails, which caused cuts on the face and required plastic surgery, as per Entertainment Weekly.

The next day, Cadi B took the stand to explain to the court her version of events and defend herself in the civil suit. She told the court that in 2018, while she was four months pregnant, she was walking around the Beverly Hills obstetrician's office when the security guard began recording her with her smartphone.

Cardi B then said that she confronted the guard and that they began verbally abusing each other. Ellis said that after the rapper stepped out of the elevator, she exclaimed, and the rapper noticed. The security guard then said:

''After she heard me say her name, she turned back around, and the first thing out her mouth was, excuse my language, 'Why the f--- are you telling people that you seen me?''

Ellis also added, saying the rapper body shamed her. She said:

''She was like, 'F--- you, you fat ass, I'm gonna beat your ass. I'm gonna get you fired. That's why you do security.' She was sticking her tongue out, flailing her arms up and down.''

Responding to the attack claims made by Ellis, the rapper said that the security guard was much bigger than her and that she wouldn't try to attack her. On the stand, Cardi portrayed the security guard, Emani Ellis, as the instigator. She said:

''You're recording me. Now you're following me, like back up. And she's like, 'I can do what I want.' It's like, 'No, you can't. You can't do what you want.' And that's when we started arguing.''

The lawsuit was filed by Emani in 2020, though the alleged incident occurred in February 2018. As per reports, Cardi is accused of intentional infliction of emotional distress, battery, assault, negligence, and false imprisonment.
