What is the controversy surrounding VTuber Takahata? Streamer breaks silence on other content creator cutting ties with him

One of the most subscribed male VTubers on Twitch, Takahata, has recently been involved in a controversy that has caused several streamers to distance themselves from him. Allegedly, some streamers have publicly announced the end of their relationship or the termination of their contracts with him.

There has been speculation among netizens about what Takahata may have said or done that led several streamers to cut ties with him. However, neither Takahata nor anyone else has disclosed the specifics of the controversy.

According to a netizen during a Reddit discussion on the r/VtuberDrama subreddit, AliciaXLife allegedly announced the end of her relationship with Takahata.

Takahata addresses the silence regarding other content creators distancing themselves from him

On Friday, May 9, 2025, Takahata finally addressed the recent controversy surrounding him. He explained how popular creators in the streaming community have distanced themselves from him and are no longer collaborating with him. He also admitted that some of them have removed content featuring past collaborations.

Takahata stated that the controversy was primarily fueled by false and damaging rumors that spread within the community. He also mentioned that he is aware of the root of these rumors, but has chosen not to disclose the person's identity due to their “emotional vulnerability”.

“You may already be aware that, over the past few months, several creators have distanced themselves from me. Some have announced they will no longer collaborate on future content; others have even removed past collaborations from their platforms. It has become clear to me that this has been largely driven by false and hurtful rumours that have been circulated behind the scenes. I am aware of where this all originated and how it has spread." He continued, stating that he had gotten professional and legal counsel and was advised to create a dossier that “clearly identifies the falsehoods and substantiates the truth”.

“While I have no desire to escalate matters or cause unnecessary distress, I have, with the guidance of legal and professional counsel, now compiled a dossier that clearly identifies the falsehoods and substantiates the truth with provable and independent evidence.” (via X)

“I'm aware that the spread of this false narrative has been made possible by a lack of full context. But the allegations now being made and implied are simply untrue. Yes, I do know the identity of the original source, but I also am very aware of that individual’s emotional vulnerability, and I truly have no wish to do them harm. So, at this stage I do not intend to make their identity public or take further action of any kind. It’s my sincere hope this will never be necessary.” (via X)

He also used the opportunity to announce that he will be taking a break from content creation.

“However, I have found this entire situation deeply difficult to process. So, after careful reflection, I’ve decided to take a significant step back from content creation for now. This has not been an easy decision, but I believe it is the right one for the time being.” (via X)

Takahata’s Twitch channel has over 140,000 followers, and he also goes by "Takahata101". At the time of writing this article, no streamer has stepped up to refute or back up his claims.
