Pop star Chappell Roan spoke about the impact Lauper had on her when she was younger, when she introduced Lauper into the Hall of Fame. Lauper has been eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame since 2009 and was once nominated for induction in 2023. Lauper thanked the woman who came before her in female and pop music in her acceptance speech.

She said:

“I just want to say that I know that I stand on the shoulders of the woman in the industry that came before me and my shoulders are broad enough to have the women that come after me stand on mine. The little kid in me still believes that rock 'n' roll can save the world.”

She added in her message:

“Thank you to the voting members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for this honor. And thank you to my fans for supporting me throughout my career. I could not do any of this without you.”

She concluded her performance with Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and was joined by artist Avril Lavigne and hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa. Other artists inducted alongside Cyndi Lauper included Outkast, Warren Zevon, Bad Company, The White Stripes, Salt-N-Pepa, Chubby Checker, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Thom Bell, Carol Kaye, Lenny Waronker and Nicky Hopkins.

For the unversed, Cyndi Lauper has spoken about suffering from plaque psoriasis, a chronic autoimmune skin disease which causes itchy and scaly patches across the skin. She was diagnosed with it in 2010.
