Joe Jonas’ recent romance with Tatiana Gabriela has brought attention to his past relationship with Taylor Swift.

They had a short-lived romance in 2008. The pair dated for about three months from July to October. They began their relationship around the time when the country artist joined the Jonas Brothers as a special guest performer for several shows on their Burnin’ Up Tour.

They sparked relationship rumors after being spotted at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards in September. Their romance came into the spotlight when Swift revealed their split on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, saying that Jonas ended things over a short phone call.

Joe Jonas seems to have inspired Swift’s songs Forever & Always (from Fearless) and Better Than Revenge (from Speak Now). Jonas responded through a MySpace post where he denied cheating rumors.

Despite the breakup, they reconciled over the years and even went on a double date with their respective partners, Gigi Hadid and Calvin Harris.

Exploring Joe Jonas' and Taylor Swift's post-breakup incidents

Following the end of Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas’ 2008 romance with an infamous phone call, Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift's post-breakup journey included public callouts, musical jabs and reconciliation.

Swift released Fearless in November 2008 after she parted ways with Joe Jonas. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, she revealed that her album featured a song about her ex-boyfriend titled Forever & Always. She told the host that it was a last-minute addition to her album.

While speaking to People magazine, the Love Story singer said:

“It’s a song about watching somebody completely fade away in a relationship and wondering what you did wrong.”

In her appearance on KIIS-FM, Swift said of her breakup with Joe Jonas:

“It's been tough. You just have to try to realize someday you'll find someone that's right for you.”

In his response, Joe Jonas released Much Better with the Jonas Brothers in 2009. The lyrics of the track went:

“Now I'm done with superstars / And all the tears on her guitar.”

It seemingly targeted Swift’s Teardrops on My Guitar amid their breakup. However, back in 2022, during the Jonas Brothers’ Las Vegas residency, Joe Jonas went viral when he changed the lyrics to “Now I’m cool with superstars.” The change showed a sign of growth between the two superstars, and that there is no more bad blood.

In 2010, Swift released Last Kiss which was a part of her album, Speak Now. The track was widely believed to be about the Heart By Heart singer. In the prologue to Speak Now (Taylor's Version), which was released in 2023, Swift referred to Last Kiss as the saddest song she's ever written.

In May 2015, Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift were spotted hanging out together at the Billboard Music Awards, and when he was asked in an interview with Access Hollywood if they were back on good terms, he answered:

“I think we’re friends. In this industry you meet a lot of people and you stay in touch. Obviously it’s tough to be friends with people that you’re always constantly traveling but yeah, we’re cool.”

Later in May 2019, Swift publicly apologized for blasting Jonas on her appearance on Ellen, while they played a game of “Burning Questions.” When the host asked her the “most rebellious thing” she did as a teenager, she said:

“Probably when I put Joe Jonas on blast on your show. That was too much… We laugh about it now but that was some mouthy — yeah, just some teenage stuff there.”

While speaking on her apology during his appearance on ITV’s Lorraine in June 2019, Jonas admitted:

“that I probably was feeling pretty bad about when I was younger, but at the end of the day, I’ve moved on. I’m sure Taylor’s moved on, and it feels nice, and we’re all friends — it’s all good. We were so young.”

The two are seemingly on amicable terms now, as they have reportedly moved on in their lives-Swift has been engaged to Travis Kelce, while Jonas has been in a “serious” relationship with model Tatiana Gabriela.
