Fans and followers of the Floribama Shore series were saddened to hear that Kirk Medas, the series alumnus who was on the show for 25 episodes from 2017 until 2020, has been in the hospital for two weeks after he was diagnosed with a serious illness.
According to Aimee Elizabeth, Kirk Medas's co-actor on the MTV show, Medas was diagnosed with a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis, and he is currently in an “incredibly serious” situation. The actress shared the news via her official Instagram page, where she posted a picture of Kirk Medas hooked up to a ventilator in a hospital.
She captioned the post as follows:
“Our friend Kirk has been in the ICU for over two weeks now, battling a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis. He's currently on a ventilator, and the situation is incredibly serious. Nilsa has been flying back and forth to Miami to be by his side, and I've been lucky enough to stay connected through FaceTime with his roommates and close friends who've been keeping us updated daily.”
The caption continued:
“Kirk does not have medical insurance, and his sweet, strong mother has created a GoFundMe to help with the overwhelming expenses. If you're able to give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you can't, your prayers mean just as much. Please pray for Kirk. Pray for his mother. Pray for his friends. And pray for his castmates-we're all hurting watching our brother fight this battle. Thank you for your love and support.”
More details on Kirk Medas’ situation
According to a video shared by Nilsa Prowant on Thursday, May 1, 2025, she revealed that Kirk Medas was hospitalized “two Fridays ago” at the time of making the recording, which should have been on April 18, 2025. She added that his road to recovery would be a very long process and talked about a GoFundMe account the family had opened to support his medical bills and rehabilitation after recovery.
“He’s been in the ICU for about two weeks now, and he’s gonna have a long road to recovery. So, his mom asked me to share this video because she did start a GoFundMe page for him and, for his medical bills and for his rehabilitation after he gets out of the ICU. Everything that gets donated goes directly to his medical bills and his recovery.”
In the shared video, Nilsa also spoke about her close relationship with Kirk Medas and how it was difficult for her to see him like that.
“You know how close me and Kirk are. He’s been there for me for the past eight years of my life [when] I had Gray, my baby shower, my wedding. He walked my mom down the aisle. I love Kirk so much, and I love his family so much. I just flew down there because I would want someone to do the same for me if it was my son.”
“We’re not going to give too many details. When I saw him, it was one of the hardest things I’ve seen in my life, next to seeing my dad in the same situation. So, please pray for him. He’s going to pull through. … I’m, like, shaking because this is one of toughest things that I’ve had to go through [and] seeing someone who’s like my brother, like, fighting,” she added.
According to the GoFundMe website for Kirk Medas, at the time of writing this article, 19% of the target amount ($100,000) had been raised, which is about $18,748.
