The conflict between Taylor Lorenz and Cinna arises from different views on security at TwitchCon 2025. It was held from October 17, 2025, to October 19, 2025, in San Diego, California.
Lorenz, who is a journalist by profession, defended the event’s security system in a post-event thread on X (formerly Twitter). She argued that protocols like wristband scans and restricted areas were “strict” and effective.

Taking to her X account, Lorenz wrote:
“You guys all need to start living in reality. It’s simply false to say that security at Twitchcon was “nonexistent” when it was SO insanely strict that journalists couldn’t even do their jobs and disabled ppl were forced to remove masks etc. I’m making a longer video on this.”
Her statement contradicts the accounts showing lax security enforcement. Cinna was among those who publicly called out Lorenz for inaccurately representing the security situation.

What did Cinna say about Taylor Lorenz in her statement on TwitchCon 2025?
Cinna criticized Taylor Lorenz’s statement about TwitchCon 2025 security being “strict” by saying that it was not accurate. She stated that the security was not as black and white as Lorenz claimed. During a livestream on Twitch, the Twitch streamer addressed her comments and said:
“Girl you know da*n well they weren’t that strict..what the h*ll were u reporting on the TC floor..this is the same girl who got sued for doxing people on Twitter….”
When one of her followers criticized Taylor Lorenz, Cinna added that she doesn’t really know her, but when she saw her tweet, she laughed. She added:
“You poor journalist, you had to get ur wristband scanned & couldn’t get into a private area…I just don’t think that journalists were that restricted..You know what I am saying..”
In her defense, The Washington Post journalist took to her X account to call out Cinna when she targeted her for doxing. She shared a detailed thread on October 22, 2025, and wrote:
“Very disappointing to see @cinnabrit repeat an outright lie (I was never sued for doxxing anyone on Twitter, she’s repeating nonsense from Libs of TikTok fans) and completely misrepresent what I said. Security *was* tight compared to other conventions, however 1/”
She emphasized that her work focused on protecting women creators from gender-based violence, and wrote:
“All the strict “security” in the world and all the police standing around or face scanning or whatever is useless when women creators are bombarded with misogynistic hate and abuse by registered attendees (and sometimes from other big creators themselves!) 2/”
In her third tweet, Taylor Lorenz said that it is true that the security at TwitchCon 2025 was so strict that journalists had a hard time getting around. She concluded her statement by saying:
“That is simply a fact.”
In her concluding statement, Lorenz added that she understands if Cinna is not familiar with her work, but “repeating garbage LibsofTikTok conspiracies” about her while livestreaming could also lead to harassment and threats.
