Judge Mathis has been keeping up with the ongoing Diddy sex trafficking trial on his Mathis Verdict podcast. On June 14, 2025, TMZ caught Gregory Ellis Mathis on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles and asked him to comment on Combs' case. They also asked Mathis if Kanye West's arrival at Diddy's trial would make any difference in the case. However, Ye was not allowed inside the courtroom, but was given access to watch the trial from another room with a monitor.

While answering TMZ's questions, Judge Mathis said he would not attend Diddy's trial to support him, but he added that his friends and family should. He added that if he were Combs' friend or family, he would definitely attend the trial. He also mentioned that being present in court for Diddy does not automatically mean that they support his wrongdoings, but friends and family can be there simply to comfort the rapper.

As for Ye's impromptu arrival at the court, Mathis said that he is not sure what West's intentions are. Ye might have done it for the drama, or he might have wanted to be there for his long-time friend. Mathis said if it were for the latter reason, he would support it.

Judge Mathis on Diddy's sex trafficking case and hypothetical sentence

This is what Judge Mathis had to say about Diddy's sex trafficking case on his podcast. The 65-year-old former court judge said:

"Yes, that is a federal crime. A very low-level federal crime, which he should be guilty of and sentenced to less than one year. On the other hand, you got some state crimes and the statute of limitations has expired, and that’s why they aren’t charging him in state court."

He added:

"Let me say what I think has been proven... The things I’ve heard, the testimony, the video I’ve observed, I’m convinced that he was involved in at least two cases of assault and battery against women."

Additionally, Mathis gave Diddy a hypothetical sentence on his Mathis Verdict podcast. He said:

"To that extent, I'd have to give him a couple or a few years... And on the multiple assaults and batteries against women, I’d have to give him a few more on that. If you want to sum it up, If it were a state crime... What would I give him? Five to ten."

Greg Mathis has openly shared his stance and opinions regarding Diddy's ongoing trial. He made it clear that he would not attend the trial; however, he believes that nothing is wrong if the rapper's friends and family attended court for moral support.
