Sarah Dzafce has lost her Miss Finland title following a controversial racist charged post she made weeks after representing the country in the 2025 Miss Universe beauty pageant.

On Thursday, December 11, the Miss Finland organization took to its official Instagram page to announce that Sarah’s title had been revoked.

“The title of Miss Finland held by Sarah Dzafce has been revoked as of today. This decision is not about a person’s human worth, but about responsibility. When an individual carries a national and international representative role, actions and responsibility are inseparable,” the English caption read.

The statement continued:

“Miss Finland holds a position of role-model status, which requires respecting all people regardless of their origin, background, or appearance.”

The organization wished Sarah Dzafce well and hoped the former beauty queen would learn from the experience.

“We wish Sarah all the best in her future. A person can grow and learn; that is always possible. The title of Miss Finland requires a high level of responsibility. In this situation, the conditions required to continue in this role were not met.”

More details on Sarah Dzafce’s controversy

A controversial post by Sarah Dzafce has gone viral on social media, sparking public backlash. The former Miss Finland shared a photo of herself in a restaurant while imitating an Asian person by drawing back her eyes.

She captioned the picture in Finnish:

“When you have to dine out with a Chinese person.”

Following the public outrage, Sarah Dzafce posted an apology on her official Instagram, stating that she fully understood the extent to which her actions have hurt many people. She wrote that she was deeply sorry and that it wasn't her intention to cause pain.

“The Miss Finland title is not just a crown to me, but also a responsibility. A responsibility for how I speak, how I act, and how my deeds can affect people. I know that I still have a lot of growing to do. One of the most important things for me is respect for people's backgrounds and diversity. It means a lot to me that everyone can be themselves and be met with dignity.”

Dzafce added:

“I take responsibility for my actions and will learn from this going forward. I want to show more through my actions than through words what kind of Miss Finland I am. A Miss Finland who unites, listens, and meets people warmly. I will take this as a lesson and promise to grow.”
