Bobby Bright became a music icon during the 1960s after teaming up with Lawrence Frank Allen, a.k.a. Laurie Allen. Together, they formed the beat pop duo, Bobby and Laurie. Robert Harry Bright has his roots in England, but moved to Australia at the young age of 9, and built a life for himself not only in the music industry, but the film industry as well.
Bobby Bright left a long legacy behind, which included some of his hit songs from Bobby and Laurie, as well as an impressive filmography list. Before Bright and Allen started their duo pop band Bobby and Laurie, both singers were solo performers. In 1964, the two of them joined forces to release their first single, I Belong With You with Go!! Records.

Bobby Bright had an impressive career spanning over five decades in both film and music. What launched his career as a musician was his first single as a duo with Laurie Allen, I Belong With You.
In addition to performing together, Bobby and Laurie also worked together with other bands such as The Rondells to produce some great hits, which further boosted their fame. The Rondells had Wayne Duncan on bass and Gary Young on drums.
Bobby and Laurie also covered songs. One of their most famous was Roger Miller’s Hitch Hiker. Their cover of Hitch Hiker rose to number one in Australia in 1966, which made many Australian fans recognize them.
Aside from his music career, Bright ventured into the silver screen and the entertainment industry. In 1966, he co-hosted an ABC musical variety show called Dig We Must. He also made an appearance in the Channel Seven police drama titled Homicide. In 1973, he took on the role of The Doctor in the Australian stage production of Tommy.
Bobby was a well-known face on Australian television. He went on to make appearances in Blue Heelers and Queen of the Damned. The last movie Bright worked on was in 2015, called Lazy Boy.
