47-year-old Harlem rapper Max B has been released from prison after 16 years.

On November 9, rapper Max B, whose real name is Charley Wingate, was released from prison after serving 16 years. He was originally sentenced to 75 years; however, his sentence was reduced to 20 years in 2016. Max's original charges were for his role in a deadly robbery at a New Jersey hotel, but the sentence dropped after he pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter. Along with him, his stepbrother, Kelvin Leerdam, received a life term plus 35 years.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Max B has a net worth of $20,000.

Last year, he hinted at his release while on a phone call during The Joe Budden Podcast. He spoke about his official release date and even discussed his excitement to return to music.

“Listen, I’m not even gonna put myself in a box, it’s all gonna run concurrent. I can’t wait to get in the studio. There’s a lot of artists out there, too many to name. I’m looking forward to working with the big names, the head honchos… But they gotta be A-list. If the sh*t ain’t A-list, I can’t f*ck with it.”

He was greeted by family and friends and his longtime friend and collaborator, French Montana, whose 41st birthday coincided with the rapper’s homecoming. In the video post by Montana, you can see him and Max B's family and friends rejoicing. He captioned the clip,

“CANT MAKE THIS UP ! MY BROTHER REALLY CAME HOME ON MY B DAY ! HAMDULILLAH. WALKED IT DOWN ! NO MORE FREE YOU.”

Max B’s net worth

Max B's net worth is estimated to be $20,000. This was not his first sentence, as just after finishing high school, he was arrested for robbery and served an eight-year sentence. Upon his release, he began performing with The Diplomats and working with Jim Jones, which led to a group called the ByrdGang. Through his rapping and songwriting talent, the group was initially quite successful until 2007, when he found out that Jones was keeping the majority of the revenue.

Along with his plans to make new music, he is also set to start touring in 2026.
