Bobby Whitlock, musician, singer, songwriter, and member of the blues-rock band Derek and the Dominos, died yesterday, August 10, 2025, at his home in Texas, following a brief battle with cancer, according to Billboard.
Whitlock was married to Coco Carmel Whitlock, who is also a musician and his creative partner. They have three children together. Some of Bobby's best solo albums include It's About Time, Lovers: The Master Demos, and Metamorphosis.
Whitlock was 77 years old at the time of his death.

Whitlock's manager, Carol Kaye, confirmed the news of his passing to news outlets. Whitlock co-founded the band Derek and the Dominos, along with singer-guitarist Eric Clapton.
The band was best known for their 1970 studio album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs and its single 'Layla,' which made it to the top ten in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
In a statement to CBS News, Whitlock's wife, Coco Carmel, said:
''How do you express in but a few words the grandness of one man who came from abject poverty in the south to heights unimagined in such a short time? As he would always say: 'Life is what you make it, so take it and make it beautiful.' And he did.''
She added:
''Farewell my Love, I'll see you in my dreams.''
Whitlock's musical career began with Memphis soul acts such as Sam & Dave. Then, in 1968, he joined Delaney & Bonnie and Friends. Bobby also co-wrote some of the most well-known tracks, including Bell Bottom Blues, Tell the Truth, and Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?.
Whitlock began his solo career in the early 1970s, and he released his debut solo album, Bobby Whitlock, in 1972. His other solo albums include Raw Velvet and One of a Kind.

Coco regularly posted videos of the two of them, and in these videos, they often sit together talking about music, Whitlock's career, and their personal experiences.
