Influencer Elle Ferguson is getting a lot of flak for her recent social media post. The Instagram post shows her attending a high-profile fashion show wearing a lilac dress that many deemed too revealing. Jonathan Anderson designed the dress within the new line of Loewe, and Ferguson herself seemed pleased with the outfit, as she shared on her Instagram:

"All I can say is THE LILAC @loewe dress is even better in real life. Such a dream to experience @jonathan.anderson last collection in real life and get to play dress ups with the collection."

The general responses by users of social media towards the Instagram post have been very unfavorable, as critics have focused their verbal attacks on the aesthetics as well as the appropriateness of the dress. While some users have tried defending the influencer for her bold choice, their voices got drowned out in the sea of negative comments that mocked the influencer for her choice.

Elle Ferguson - a brief history

Elle Ferguson is of Australian descent and began her career with strong academic foundations, holding a university degree in design and architecture. After graduation, she began to work in the fashion retail business as a national visual merchandiser at One Teaspoon (a denim company), where she gained firsthand experience in the fashion retail industry.

However, she really made her breakthrough when she cofounded the Australian fashion blog “They All Hate Us” with Tash Sefton, which soon became one of the most popular fashion blogs in the country. She also partnered with numerous fashion and lifestyle brands, including Quay and Billabong, which further cemented her status as a fashion authority.

While Elle Ferguson has gone solo since then and even launched her own tanning brand, she did speak about her past experiences in an interview with STM, where she was quoted as saying:

"When I worked on the blog with Tash Sefton there were really no blogs in the Australian space and it took off quite quickly. But I could also see the opportunities and decided that instead of saying ‘no’ to what came along I would just say ‘yes'."

She then went on to shed light on her decision to start her own business venture (Elle Effect) by adding:

"I’m a cautious person and I was on a good wage at Seafolly. I wasn’t going to leave work unless I could make what I did in my job. When Instagram came along the growth was impossible to ignore and I eventually went full-time about four years ago."

Elle Ferguson has faced both praise and criticism over her fashion choices during her career, with the recent incident being perhaps her most controversial moment of all.
