Maria Katiane Gomes da Silva, a 25-year-old Brazilian social media influencer, lost her life in a terrible fall accident that has left social media and the authorities shocked. What seemed like a bright and exciting life online has come to such a terrible end in São Paulo on November 29. She had gained many followers with her candid posts about her everyday life, ranging from travel, beauty, to health. Her death received lots of media attention following the police inquiry into the circumstances leading to the fall from the tenth floor of the apartment where she resided. Explanations for the death were not sufficient for the police; hence the case changed dramatically with new information emerging. Witnesses had been startled by screaming and loud noises, causing them to call the police and ambulance. Police were quick to respond, and upon arrival, her boyfriend, 40-year-old Alex Leandro Bispo dos Santos, had already accompanied the police, claiming that she had taken her own life because of a dispute. The days that ensued saw the footage from cameras placed around and inside the building reviewed by investigators.
