The author and the former PepsiCo CEO, Robert Charles Hunter, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, while visiting family in Texas, according to his family's statement, as per The Hollywood Reporter. No cause of death has been disclosed publicly by the family or media.

Hunter worked at PepsiCo for twenty-three years, out of which he served eleven years as the CEO. He wrote a novel, Curious Journey: Origins, in 2008, along with its 2011 follow-up, Curious Journey: Energy.

Robert was 77 years old at the time of his death.

According to an obituary shared on The Hollywood Reporter, his family shared a few lines about Robert. It reads:

''Robert always loved Texas. The wide skies, the bold spirit and the warmth of Fort Worth were part of his soul. Returning home brought him peace and joy — a feeling he often described as ‘like coming back to the rhythm of my heart.'''

As per reports, Hunter and his wife, Diane Ladd, popularly known for her role in the TV series Chesapeake Shores and films such as Gigi & Nate and The Last Full Measure, got married in February 1999, and that same year, they started a film company together called Exxcell Entertainment, based in Ojai, California. Diane was Robert's third wife.

Later, Robert acted in the 2006 thriller film, Inland Empire, in which he played the role of a detective, called Detective Hutchinson. This was the only movie he worked in, and in the same movie, his wife Diane and her daughter, Laura Dern, were also featured.

He was often spotted with his wife, Diane, publicly at awards and events. In 2010, they were photographed side by side when Diane Ladd, Bruce Dern, and Laura Dern received stars together on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

There have been no public announcements regarding funeral or memorial services for Robert as of yet. Hunter had made a name for himself by leading big business projects, partnering with different industries, and helping companies grow through smart collaborations. Robert is survived by his wife, stepdaughter, and grandchildren.
