Weezer bassist Scott Shriner and author Jillian Lauren are officially ending their marriage after nearly twenty years together. The split follows a series of multiple viral public incidents involving Jillian Lauren earlier this year.

It also included a police confrontation and ongoing legal proceedings. According to recently filed court documents, Lauren has officially submitted for divorce and listed the reason as "irreconcilable differences."

Scott Shriner and Jillian Lauren married in November 2005. They are parents to two adopted sons, who are still minors. Their eldest one's name is Tariku Moon. He is now 17. Their younger son is Jovanni Starshine. He is 13. They were adopted during the relatively early years of the marriage: Tariku in 2007 and Jovanni in 2009.

As the marriage is now officially dissolving, Jillian Lauren is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their children, along with spousal support. She also reportedly checked a box asking the court to block the possibility of Scott Shriner receiving spousal support.

The legal documents were reported by outlets including TMZ and PEOPLE. The docs state that the author wants her legal name restored to Lauren.

Notably, Jillian Lauren has previously made multiple adorable official Instagram posts about her kids. One such post was captioned:

"This adorable little nugget is now a young man, who is half a foot taller than me and spent last night grabbing the suitcases on the high shelves, and packing provisions in case the wind changes… He even gave me a hug (didn’t tell you that.) She also opened up about her health struggles, stating:

"Three weeks now. Two back to back surgeries including a full hysterectomy. I feel called upon to mention it, because i know only two people who had this procedure and neither is with us today. They were not here for me to call, and ask what to expect. I am saying: I am here. Ask me."

The post continued:

"I am okay and healing today. And look at this beautiful beam of light, this new journal I got, the baby yellow- bellied finches outside my bedroom window. Tte family, who supports me. @sgs711 . That is my story today. I thank you for your overwhelming support, and I love most of you. Kidding. I love you all. May we all be well tonight."

Jillian Lauren's April 2025 incident that made headlines

In April 2025, Jillian Lauren was involved in an incident at their Eagle Rock home during a police search in the neighborhood. This was initially not related to her. However, according to law enforcement statements, she allegedly fired at police after ignoring commands to drop her weapon. LAPD Commander Alex Chogyoji previously stated in a case overview video:

"The officers gave Shriner repeated verbal commands to drop the handgun, however, she did not comply. Moments later, Shriner racked the handgun, pointed it at the officers and fired, resulting in an officer involved shooting."

Lauren was shot in the shoulder and hospitalized. She was initially booked on suspicion of attempted murder and released on $1 million bail. Prosecutors later charged her with assault and negligent discharge of a firearm.

In September 2025, Jillian Lauren was granted entry into a two-year mental health diversion program, which allows her to avoid jail time if she complies with ongoing treatment.
