Who is Shangel? All about Kick streamer as he uploads shocking live video of shooting at Times Square

Shangel, known online as ShangelNYC, was reportedly shot while livestreaming in Times Square. The incident was caught on camera, showing the Kick streamer and his friends in a panic.

However, when an X user, @MRXKOP, asked Grok, an AI assistant designed by xAI, if the incident was true, Grok replied:

"No, it's not true. No news reports, police statements, or other sources confirm a shooting involving Shangel in Times Square on August 6, 2025. The video appears staged or misinterpreted for views."

The video of the Times Square shooting is now going viral on the internet, with many users sharing it and reacting with shock and confusion.

The Kick streamer was also mentioned in a social media post by an X user, @Cooldudemegan, on August 5 that featured a screenshot taken from iMessage with the caption:

"🚨Text messages have been posted showing @Shangelnyc continuing to decline paying his cameraman (after months of working with him). The cameraman has yet to be paid a single cent from said streamer. 🚨"

He is a well-known social media influencer and a Kick streamer, popular for his chatty videos and engaging personality. He has built a strong following on the platform, with around 33,000 followers. His most recent livestream took place on August 5 and lasted for about three hours.

The 22-year-old social media influencer was reportedly born in the United States and began creating TikTok videos in 2021. Since then, he has gained over 500,000 followers on the platform. While he is already popular on Kick and TikTok, he has also built a strong presence on YouTube, where he has over 200,000 subscribers and 155 videos as of August 6.

On Instagram, he has more than 69,000 followers. In addition to his online content, he is the CEO of an apparel brand called Most Loyal. Currently, the brand offers just two items, sweatpants priced at $50 and hoodies at $60, available in pink and black.

After the shooting clip went viral, users started sharing their own opinions and showing concern for the streamer.

One user, @thejasich, wrote:

Another user, @omarhustla, added:

"shooting at somebody at time square u gotta be asking to go to jail 😭"

One more user, @HPNnetwork, commented:

As of now, Shangel has not addressed the incident on his Instagram or Twitter accounts.
