Shebeshxt is currently under police investigation for allegedly shooting a motorist during a road rage incident in Polokwane on October 19, 2025.

The South African rapper, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, reportedly got into a heated altercation with another motorist near a petrol station.

The dispute escalated after an argument over driving behavior when the rapper allegedly shot the driver in the solar plexus before fleeing the scene. He was left with serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The Limpopo police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba, said:

“The case has since been taken over by the Murder and Robbery Unit following instructions from the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe. The team has been directed to investigate with a view to arrest, not the other way around.”

Born in March 1995 in Lebowakgomo, Shebeshxt is known for his unique musical style that blends Bolo House, Amapiano, and rap. He gained fame with his viral track, Ke Di Shxt Malume. It became a massive hit on social media platforms like TikTok.

All you need to know about rapper Shebeshxt

Shebeshxt, who is also known as Malome Shebe, spent his early years in Tembisa with his father before moving to Polokwane. He pursued studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

He made his music debut in 2021 with the release of his hit track, Ke Di Shxt Malume. Since then, he has released several songs and albums, including Topless Shxta's Journey Vol 1, Topless Shxta's Journey Vol 2, and My Music My Story.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with several South African artists such as DJ Maphorisa, Zee Nxumalo, Slidoo Man and Naqua.

The musician's mother played a significant role in his life by supporting him in his financial struggles. When the rapper was unemployed, she took care of his child, a daughter named Onthatile Gladys Chuene. She passed away in a road accident in June 2024 when she was only eight years old. Her death came as a huge loss to the rapper's family.

Following Onthatile's death, Shebeshxt took to social media where he shared with his followers that he is undergoing a difficult period. He said he is trying to cope with tears and stress.

The accident, which also involved the Ambulance rapper and his wife, Kholofelo Moloto, occurred on a road near Smelters Mine outside Polokwane in Limpopo. He was driving a Volkswagen Polo that collided head-on with a heavy motor vehicle, which caused the car to overturn.

Onthatile was declared dead at the scene, whereas Shebeshxt and his wife sustained injuries. Her school also extended condolences on her passing. They shared a statement which read:

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Onthatile Chuene, a cherished Grade 3 learner at our school. Onthatile passed away on 8 June 2024, and our entire Northern Academy family is deeply affected by this loss.”

The statement added:

“During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Onthatile’s family, friends, and all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”

The rapper released a documentary titled My music, My story that chronicles his life and career. The documentary premiered along with a concert performance at the State Theatre in Pretoria.

Shebeshxt has made headlines for his involvement in controversies over the recent years. While his raw style has built a dedicated fanbase, his career has been overshadowed by a series of incidents involving violence, legal troubles and personal tragedies.

He was also part of a stabbing incident which took place three years ago. He reportedly faces an attempt to murder charge related to allegedly stabbing a man during a confrontation in Lebowakgomo. He appeared in the Lebowakgomo Regional Court in May this year for this charge.

Shebeshxt was involved in an incident two years ago where he allegedly discharged a firearm at family residences in Ga-Mamaola village while searching for a relative. This led to charges including discharging a firearm in a built-up area.

In the ongoing case where the rapper was arrested for murder and shooting, Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the police will take necessary action once the intensified investigation is complete.
