Who are Spencer Hatcher's parents? Tragedy strikes country singer's family in Virginia home invasion

Spencer Hatcher, a country music artist, lost his mother in a fatal home invasion in Virginia. Spencer is a son of Holly Hatcher and Michael Hatcher. His mother, Holly, was a teacher and was 62 years old at the time of her death. His father, Michael, is currently 65 years old.

Almost a week back, Spencer Hatcher uploaded a post on his social media announcing the cancellation of his upcoming performances at VOA Country Music Fest in Butler County, OH (8/8), and at Rockingham County Fair in Harrisonburg, VA (8/11 & 8/12):

"It is with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that – due to a monumental loss in our family – I must cancel my upcoming shows"

While he asked for privacy, he did not share many details about what had happened. As per the recent reports, Hatcher’s mother, Holly Hatcher, was stabbed to death by an armed man on August 3, a few days before Hatcher cancelled his shows.

The tragic incident occurred at their Harrisonburg home in Virginia, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office. When the attacker attempted to flee, Spencer Hatcher’s father, Michael Hatcher, shot and killed him in the driveway.

Police have identified the attacker as Kevin Moses Walker. The 41-year-old was a resident of Pikesville, Maryland.

Sheriff gives statement on fatal attack at Spencer Hatcher’s family home

As per the investigation, Kevin Moses Walker bought a sleeping bag and a knife from a nearby Walmart. He also booked a campsite at Endless Caverns, Virginia, on August 1, as reported by WTVR.

On August 2, police found a left-behind car and a shop at Endless Caverns that had been trespassed. While nothing was missing in the shop, police believe Walker was the one behind the incident. While they tried to find the trespasser, they were not able to locate him.

Addressing the Virginia home invasion, Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson said in the press:

"This is a highly unusual, apparently completely random [attack] with an individual with no known history of violent behavior of any kind, or even criminal behavior of any kind."

In a statement, Spencer Hatcher's father, Michael Hatcher said:

"There's going to be questions that will never be answered, but all I can tell you is we've cried, we've hurt, and we've hugged, and we have found more love than we have ever known has existed between us, and between you"

Police are still investigating the case to uncover more details and possible motives. However, they will not be pursuing any legal action since Kevin is deceased.
