Influencer Susannah Hardwick recently went viral when she described New York City’s dating scene as a “complete fever dream.”

While speaking with People magazine, the 27-year-old, who posts dating content on TikTok, shared her dating stories with the outlet. She said:

“Dating in New York City is a complete fever dream. You’re dealing with some of the most delusional, entitled men on the planet who will literally behave in the wildest ways. Since I started dating here, every single week, there seemed to be a different insane anecdote. Whenever I thought I’d truly seen it all, there would suddenly be something else.”

Susannah Hardwick is a British content creator and an opera singer, currently based in New York City.

Describing one of her worst dating experiences, Hardwick said that it was when she got stood up on a date. But instead of cancelling it himself, he sent his assistant.

All we need to know about Susannah Hardwick

Susannah Hardwick was born and raised in London. After earning a degree in Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from the Royal College of Music in London, Hardwick came to the United States in 2021.

She pursued a Master of Music degree in Opera Performance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, graduating in 2023. Her LinkedIn profile describes her as a freelance professional singer.

In addition to being a British soprano, Susannah Hardwick is also a choral singer. She is a soprano member of the professional choir at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City.

According to her biography on the website of National Theatre, her recently performed roles include Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro (Boston Conservatory Opera), Eurydice in Orpheus in the Underworld (Hawaii Performing Arts Festival), Susannah (cover) in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah (Boston Conservatory Opera), Euridice in L’Orfeo (Royal College of Music), and Clorinda (cover) in La Cenerentola (British Youth Opera).

Susannah Hardwick also won the Copland Award in the Orpheus Vocal Competition and has been a semifinalist in the Pasadena Vocal Competition. In 2018, she was also declared a winner for the Collingwood Finalist’s Prize in the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary for Young Singers.

Previously, in an interview with The Post, Hardwick opened up about her experience of dating in The Big Apple. She explained how being ghosted can be “destructive for your self-worth and self-esteem.”

Hardwick added that she has been in situations where men have emotionally fooled her by letting her know that they “can’t stop thinking about you” and then they “literally disappear” on her.

She said that she decided to take a break from dating as constant rejection was a hard pill to swallow. Opening up about her dating experiences with People magazine, Hardwick said that she has now become more “savvy” in spotting signs of love bombing. She added that she can tell when a man is being unrealistic with his words, but also regrets being a hopeless romantic.
