Choi reportedly worked at a social media marketing agency. He was known on a livestreaming platform as a “big sponsor” or a VIP fan, famous for spending a significant amount on female influencers.

A report in Kbizoom stated that Yoon Ji-Ah was reportedly under extreme stress and wanted to terminate her contract with Choi. Reports said that her decision to leave eventually drove him mad, which influenced him to commit the crime.
