50 Cent has sued his former girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, after she allegedly breached a contract by publicly sharing stories about their relationship and her life.

The lawsuit claims that Tompkins signed a contract with the rapper’s publishing company, called G-Unit Books, in 2007, per TMZ. At that time, she “irrevocably and exclusively” sold her rights to the company and agreed that:

"She would not publicly disclose, exploit, or otherwise commercialize any aspect of her life story or related rights.”

In return, she received $80,000 and was promised future royalties.

However, the company has now claimed that she broke the agreement by sharing the details of her relationship with the rapper and their son Marquise Jackson, in interviews and clips online. They also claimed that she uploaded a YouTube video titled Other Side of the Coin in 2023. In the video, she revealed her role in building 50 Cent’s career.

G-Unit is seeking at least $1 million in damages. The company asked the court to prevent her from posting more videos, to remove the video, to stop promoting any media tied to their life story, and to cover their legal expenses.

Who is Shaniqua Tompkins, and why is she embroiled in a controversy with 50 Cent?

Shaniqua Tompkins is the former girlfriend of 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson. They had been in an on-and-off relationship in the ‘90s. The couple welcomed their son Marquis Jackson, who is currently 28 years old, in 1997, per a report in People Magazine. They eventually split after some time, fought a custody battle for their son, and reached an agreement in 2008.

According to the agreement, the judge granted the rapper visitation rights to his son. He could visit him one weekend every month and share holidays and vacations with Shaniqua.

Today reported that she sued the 'Power' and 'BMF' producer to stop her eviction from the house, which is worth $2.4 million, claiming he promised to give her the house. In the same year, Tompkins’ Long Island home, where she lived with her son, was set ablaze.

The report stated that Tompkins claimed that she supported the rapper financially when they dated in 1995. During that time, he was starting his career. She added that she took care of him for months when he was shot nine times in 2000. She further claimed that 50 Cent promised to support her by making an oral agreement in 1996 that he would support her forever if “he made it big.”

In another report, Tompkins claimed that the rapper beat her while she was pregnant with Marquise in 1996, adding that he was physically and verbally abusive during their relationship. During a live session, earlier this year, when Tompkins was asked by a follower why she left the rapper, she said:

“Because he was abusive. He still is abusive. Emotionally, physically, he is abusive.”

She said the last straw was when “he hit me in front of my daughter.” She claimed that 50 Cent blamed their son Marquise for the incident. Tompkins also claimed that he beat up Daphne Joy, who shares her son, Sire Jackson, with him, born in 2012.
