Elle UK has released a statement apologizing to BLACKPINK's Rosé over the Paris Fashion Week post. In the statement, they wrote:
"We sincerely apologize for a recent post from Paris Fashion Week in which Rosé of BLACKPINK was cropped from a group photo for size. We did not mean to offend anyone. The post has been removed, and ELLE UK remains committed to ensuring our future coverage represents the full spectrum of our audience we so greatly respect."
The controversy started after Elle UK posted a photo from the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2026 collection from Paris Fashion Week. The original photo posted by various famous magazines like W Magazine showed Hailey Bieber, Zoe Kravitz, Charli xcx, and the BLACKPINK member sitting in the front row.
However, in Elle's photo, she was cropped out, featuring only Bieber, Kravitz, and Charli xcx. This prompted backlash from Rosé's fans, with many outlets reporting on the controversy over her being cropped out of the photo.
Many also pointed out that she is a global ambassador for YSL and has over 80 million followers, making the decision to crop her out all the more controversial and disappointing to fans.
The photo has been deleted by the magazine.
Elle UK highlights Rosé with a standalone photo from Paris Fashion Week
A day after Elle UK started receiving negative comments on their post, the outlet posted an individual photo of Rosé from Paris Fashion Week. In the caption, they wrote:
"The most standout look came courtesy of Blackpink star #Rosé, a Saint Laurent ambassador, who sat on the front row in a silky romper suit that featured a camisole top and floaty shorts. The singer styled it with very sheer black tights, strappy sandals, and a chunky gold cuff bracelet."
However, fans remained dissatisfied with the follow-up post, criticizing the outlet for acting too late and accusing Elle UK of trying to move past the controversy without fully taking responsibility for the initial cropping incident.
"Too late. Do you know how much Rose earn and influence not only in Asia but USA?" a user, @phunghannn, wrote.
"At least write an apology statement🫢," another user, @balindatridnda, commented.
"hei @elleuk if you crop asian person , why you just invite them ? please MTV winner 2025 for song “apt” croped ?" another user, @andrieputra, added.

Along with Elle UK, Charli xcx is also facing backlash on the internet. On September 30, the singer uploaded a photo dump from the Paris Fashion Week. In one of the photos, she was seen sitting with Hailey, Zoe, and the APT. singer.
However, fans noticed that Rosé appeared partially shadowed, making her less visible. Fans criticized this post, questioning why Charlie XCX chose to share this particular photo when other outlets had already shared clearer, well-lit images from the event.
While Elle UK has released a statement, Charli xcx has not commented on her photo yet.
