Hasan Piker, who is also known as HasanAbi, was banned from Twitch on May 25, 2025. The reason cited by Twitch for the ban, as reproduced on the verified X account of Stop Antisemitism (@StopAntisemites), was:
‘Improper Handling of Terrorist Propaganda."
According the X post by Stop Antisemitism, the ban comes after his discussion on stream about the motives of Elias Rodriguez, the shooter who killed two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, DC. The account wrote:
“Hasan Piker has been SUSPENDED from Twitch! Just days ago, he called the murderer behind the DC assassination of two Israeli Embassy staffers “genuine.” Coincidence?”
The account shared a screenshot of Twitch’s policy behind HasanAbi's ban. According to the Twitch declaration, the reason for the suspension was sharing of content related to terrorist or violent extremist groups, which is strictly prohibited by the platform. The Twitch message read:
“Based on a review of your activity or content, we have issued a global suspension on your account. As a result, your access to Twitch services is temporarily restricted. Please be aware that repeated violations may lead to more serious actions on your account, including longer temporary suspensions or permanent suspension.”
Here is what we know about HasanAbi's reaction to the Twitch ban.
How did HasanAbi respond to the ban?
While responding to his Twitch ban, HasanAbi publicly acknowledged the suspension and criticized the platform’s policy. He took to X on May 25, 2025 and shared a screenshot of the ban’s policy.
Here is what he wrote in his X post:
“i covered the motives of the israeli embassy staff shooter. twitch tos dictates a suspension for even critical examination of the manifesto. i believe this is a bad policy for news and press freedom. ill take the suspension, but hope twitch changes this policy in the future.”
The Twitch ban means HasanAbi is prohibited from posting and streaming on the platform. Although he accepted the ban, he requested the platform to reconsider its decision.
This was not the first time he has been banned from Twitch. According to StreamerBans, this is the sixth time he has been banned. The outlet stated that his longest ban lasted around seven days.
His first ban from Twitch came in August 2019, though he was unbanned after a few seconds. Before his current ban, he was banned in March 2025 from the streaming platform.
According to a report in Dexerto, though he did not ratify the reason for ban back then, Hasan said sotty for his words about US Senator Rick Scott during a livestream. Another report in Esports claimed that the ban came after he made a comment while discussing Medicaid and Medicare fraud. He said:
“If you cared about Medicaid fraud, you would kill Rick Scott.”
He later took to X to apologize for his comment, and wrote that he would be careful with his words next time. The report in StreamerBans indicated that he was unbanned after a day.
