The reality competition series Beast Games premiered on December 19, 2024, via Amazon Prime Video and was created by Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast. The series was inspired by the popular Korean series "Squid Game, in which individuals would compete for prize money after playing a series of games.

According to the New York Times, a contestant allegedly claimed that he watched as some of his fellow contestants were taken out of the competition on stretchers. Although there was a bit of uncertainty about whether the casualties were fatal, the contestant allegedly explained.

In response to this claim, one of Beast's spokespersons messaged the New York Times to address the inconveniences the contestants experienced.

"The shoot was unfortunately complicated by the CrowdStrike incident, extreme weather, and other unexpected logistical and communications issues.”

Concluding the message, the Spokesperson stated that MrBeast "had taken steps to ensure that we learn from this experience."

Other contestants complained about the small portions of food served to each one. According to the New York Times, the contestants were given "a tiny portion of cold oatmeal, one hard-boiled egg, and a few pieces of raw vegetables."
