Season 1 episode 2 of Reacher saw one of the darkest and brutal moments in the series. It truly came as a surprise that first-time watchers were not mentally prepared for. Roscoe and Reacher arrive at the murder scene of Chief Morrison. Finlay tells Roscoe that the crime scene is worse than anything he has ever seen in Boston. Well, this warning was not enough for what was about to come on the screen. As they enter the crime scene, Reacher asks whether the victim was nailed to the wall.

This surprises Finlay, and he asks him how he came to know about it. Slowly, the crime scene comes on the screen. We hear Jasper’s voice talking about the details of the victim’s body. He says that the lacerations appeared to be shallow and were done by a serrated blade.

It could be understood that the people who killed the victim wanted to inflict immense pain. We finally see the body of the victim nailed to the wall with blood dripping from him. In this episode, we see Paul Hubble’s wife talking with Roscoe about the details regarding his work with the Kliners. She tells Roscoe that Kliner wanted to meet Paul. In season 1 episode 7, when Reacher came to Hubble’s house after telling Officer Baker about it, he knew that Baker would snitch and try to kill him. He came prepared for the outcome. Reacher arrived with Finlay and Hubble to bring them back to safety. However, Teale and KJ definitely did not make it easy for them. Among them, the 7th episode of the season was truly a horrifying one. In this episode, Neagly and Reacher were trying to take down an enemy to question him.

However, the enemy escaped them and hid in a room at the hospital. As Neagly entered the room, the man attacked her with a bonesaw. Neagly narrowly escaped the attack. The action sequence in this scene is filled with bullets showering from every direction as Reacher tries to evade the bullets. As the helicopter rose in the air, the shooting got even more intense. This season truly took a dark and sombre turn with this episode.

Russo, without hesitation, throws himself into the line of fire. In a horrifying sequence, we see Russo fall to the ground on impact of the bullet. They arrive at his house and find that Stevenson and his wife are tied to the chair with nails stuck to their bodies. When Finlay tells that Stevenson might be involved, Reacher says that Stevenson was not involved.

He explains that the killers wanted Stevenson to be lucid, and they wanted him to watch as the killer tortured his wife in front of him. The killers had put mirrors all around them. They did it so that in whichever direction he looked, he would be able to see how they were torturing his wife. The whole scene is so intense and heartbreaking. Reacher asks him if he knew how the catheter that was attached to him worked. He then proceeded to tell him that the balloon inflated in his bladder, holding it in its place, could rupture if he started to fill it with air.
