Not only are they quirky and genius, they are not bound by the norms of reality and are therefore much more imaginative and interesting. Therefore, sci-fi show characters generally have superpowers and it would be interesting to list down some of the most exciting ones who we can be friends with and who can also give us access to their tech and gadgets. One of the most popular sci-fi show characters to have come out of Britain, the Doctor is a character that we would all like to be friends with. Created by Sydney Newman, C.E. Webber, and Donald Wilson, the popular sci-fi show has been airing since 1963 and focuses on the adventures of an extraterrestrial genius called the Doctor. He is a part of the humanoid species called the Time Lords and he travels through space and time with the help of his gadgets and saves lives while fighting against the forces of evil. Befriending the Doctor would be like a rollercoaster adventure as he zips through space and time using his famous time travelling spaceship called the TARDIS. The Doctor is himself charismatic and wise, and will therefore make for a good friend. But the technology that he has, is an added bonus. 2. David Martinez – Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Based on the video game by CD Projekt Red, this cyberpunk original net animation miniseries is created by Rafal Jaki and Mike Pondsmith. As the prequel to the game, the series focuses on a world where a dystopian metropolis is overrun by crime and corruption. Amidst this world, a talented street kid called David Martinez loses everything in a drive-by shooting and decides to become an “edgerunner”—who is a high-tech black-market mercenary and is also known as “cyberpunk.” David Martinez is one of the coolest sci-fi show characters and anyone would want to be friends with him. He is loyal, a survivor, and has a conscience in a world where everyone is selfish. However, the best part is that he has some awesome tech and gadgets as well. The Sandevistan implant allows him to slow time and move like lightning, which is a game-changer. 3. Q – Star Trek: The Next Generation

Created by Gene Roddenberry, this sci-fi series is a part of the Star Trek franchise and takes place a century after the events of the first series. The show continues on the popular legacy of the original series and focuses on the adventures of a Starfleet starship, the USS Enterprise, which explores the Alpha and the Beta quadrant of the Milky Way galaxy. The show is set in the 24th century and therefore has umpteen amounts of technology and cool gadgets. Q is one of the most interesting sci-fi show characters as he is omnipotent and smug. Even though he toys with the crew of the Enterprise, he is quirky and therefore likeable. While the character is both chaotic and charming, it is the amount of power that he has through his technology that is especially alluring. 4. Kara Danvers – Supergirl

Developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, and Andrew Kreisberg, this superhero drama series is based on the DC comics character created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. The series focuses on Kara Zor-El or Kara Danvers, who is Superman’s cousin and the last surviving Kryptonian from the planet of Krypton. As a Supergirl, she is one of the coolest sci-fi show characters and she can use her superpowers to protect National City. Kara Danvers is the perfect friend as she is pure-hearted, optimistic, and always saves people from trouble. The character has plenty of thrilling tech and as a friend it would be an exciting ride. From the DEO to the holographic medical pod, to the indestructible suit and the Phantom Zone projector, Kara Danvers has all the tech and gadgets in the world. Further, there is the Fortress of Solitude, which houses gadgets that were built ages before and has alien AI, tech that can be used to rewire DNA, and more. 5. Rick Sanchez – Rick and Morty

Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, this animated sci-fi sitcom, focuses on Rick Sanchez, who is a cynical but genius scientist. He has a good-hearted grandson called Morty Smith and the two must struggle to divide their time between domestic life and interdimensional adventures that the two fly across using Rick’s flying saucer. Who would not want to be friends with Rick Sanchez? One of the most famous sci-fi show characters, he has a portal gun, a spaceship, and a cloning lab. He has a number of cool gadgets and being his friend would give one access to all of these. The portal gun could open up various worlds and even if he is a misanthrope and has a dark sense of humor, it would be worthwhile to stay by his side and use his tech. 6. Eleven – Stranger Things

No one can forget to be friends with Eleven from the hit sci-fi and horror series Stranger Things. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the series not only has loads of 1980s nostalgia, it also has a thrilling storyline that centers around the small town of Hawkins, where illegal scientific experiments have resulted in specially-abled kids and monsters from another dimension. Amidst all this, the one person who stands tall, is Eleven, who is charming, resilient, and strong—making her the perfect friend. But the best part is that she has telekinetic powers that can be used to kill monsters and even save friends from bullies. Now who would not want to be friends with her. Further, she can delve into the mind of any person through sensory deprivation tanks and can make people come out of their trauma. Eleven would be one of the best sci-fi show characters to be friends with as she would definitely help the others and even teach them some of her powers. While most of her powers comes from birth and cruel experiments, it is always thrilling to bask in the shadow of such a powerful friend.


7. Number Five – The Umbrella Academy

Based on the comic book series of the same name by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, this superhero and sci-fi comedy drama focuses on a dysfunctional family where all the adopted siblings are superheroes. When all of them reunite for their father’s funeral, they must save the world from a dangerous apocalypse. The show is developed by Jeremy Slater and is created by Steve Blackman. The show is set in a world where some women gave birth simultaneously without any symptoms and seven of the children thus born are adopted by a billionaire and made into a superhero team. Each of them have been given numbers and Number Five is one of the most exciting sci-fi show characters to be friends with. Number Five can teleport and time travel. Even though he is cranky, he is a genius and being friends with him would definitely lead to some helpful discoveries. While he has a brilliant sense of sarcasm that is needed for friendships, he also has a mystery briefcase that allows him to jump between timelines and would therefore be a good catch. 8. Maeve Millay – Westworld

Based on the 1973 and 1976 movies, which were written and directed by Michael Crichton, this dystopian sci-fi Western series is created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. The show revolves around the titular and fictional technologically advanced Wild-West themed amusement park that is populated by androids. The park allows wealthy customers to indulge in their wildest fantasies without the danger of any repercussions. However, the androids begin to gain sentience and begin to rebel for their freedom. Maeve Millay is one of the central and best sci-fi show characters as she is self-aware and is not a pawn in anyone’s hands. While others try to objectify her, she is dignified, helpful, and intelligent. Therefore, she would make for a strong and fiery friend. 9. Yorick Brown – Y: The Last Man

Developed by Eliza Clark and based on the comic book series of the same name by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, this post-apocalyptic drama and sci-fi series focuses on a cataclysmic event, which kills every mammal with a Y chromosome. However, Yorick Brown and his monkey, Ampersand, is saved. The show focuses on their journey in a new world. Therefore, becoming friends with Yorick Brown would be advantageous. Not only is he one of the most interesting sci-fi show characters, but there is some special power that has kept him and his monkey alive. Therefore, it would be wise to be friends with him and try to find out if he has any interesting superpowers and technology that has saved him from a global disaster. 10. Kwan Ha – Halo: The Series

Based on the video game franchise, this sci-fi military action series is developed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane. The show focuses on the 26th century war between the UN Space Command and the Covenant, which is a theocratic and military alliance of several alien species that wants to destroy humanity. Becoming friends with Kwan Ha would be profitable. She is one of the most fierce and rebellious sci-fi show characters and wants to fight against authority. However, she also has many alien technologies with herself, especially after her journey with Soren and Master Chief. She has the forerunner technology and has keystones and important alien ruins.
