17 Years Later: J.P. Pomare's crime thriller novel gets a television adaptation at Made Up Stories

J.P. Pomare’s newest novel, 17 Years Later, is now getting a TV adaptation, and the anticipation is at an all-time high. J.P. Pomare’s works have previously been adapted into a series, for instance, The Clearing. It is adapted from his novel, In The Clearing.

This assures that this adaptation will also be a piece of art worth diving into. Reading a novel can definitely create a visual world that enhances the whole experience. However, watching the world of crime in the novel come to life on television definitely increases the enjoyment.


J.P. Pomare’s 17 Years Later is getting a TV adaptation

The TV adaptation of 17 Years Later will be done in collaboration with Bruna Papandrea, along with Made Up Stories. Bruna Papandrea launched Made Up Stories not long ago. The production company might be new, but it comes with the experience of some intriguing projects already.

Some of the projects that Made Up Stories worked with are Nine Perfect Strangers, Long Slow Exhale, Wolf Like Me, The Last Anniversary, etc. Hence, it can be understood that the adaptation of 17 Years Later is in the right hands. The direction of the series will be done by the very talented John Polson.

Some of his most famed works include Elementary, Chicago Med, The Last Anniversary, and many more. It is not an easy task to bring life to a novel like 17 Years Later. J.P. Pomare brings out the intensity and thrill on each page in a distinct, nuanced manner. Hence, the creators have to bring in their textured storytelling to deliver the storyline of the series in a proper manner.

Pam Veasey’s name might sound familiar as she has worked with many famous projects in her career, including In Living Color, Nash Bridges, CSI: NY, and many more. Now Pam Veasey’s skills will come in handy in bringing out the essence of 17 Years Later as she is tasked with writing the adaptation of the series, along with being the executive producer and the showrunner. Her addition comes with the assurance that the series will be able to bring out the emotional fallout of the crime in a nuanced manner.

The storyline of 17 Years Later takes us on a journey of crime. A murder changes the trajectory of a whole town. The wealthy Primrose family is killed, and after the investigation starts, the evidences lead to Bill Kareama. Bill Kareama is the family’s chef. After the evidences indicate that Bill is the killer, he is incarcerated.

For seventeen years, he stayed in jail. However, things begin to take a turn when prison psychologist TK Phillips' words raise an issue. According to TK Phillips, Bill was wrongly convicted and is innocent. Soon, a new investigation begins, which brings out new evidence as well. These new pieces of evidence change the whole scenario. The truth is not what anyone expected it to be. The investigators are faced with the dilemma. They are unsure whether to reveal the truth or to leave the issue as it is.

Pomare expressed that he is “absolutely thrilled” that 17 Years Later is getting helmed by Made Up Stories. He also pointed out that Pam Veasey’s addition to the adaptation makes him happy, as he is aware of the multitude of projects that she has successfully brought to life with her prolific writing. He also spoke up about his gratefulness that 17 Years Later is getting adapted into a series.
