Stranger Things Season 5 just aired 4 episodes, and fans can't stop talking about it! I mean, for good reasons, of course. Vecna is back, terrorizing the town, but the lead characters are prepared to take him down! The kids are stronger than ever and share a strong bond to fight against the supernatural forces.

The group formulates new strategies and uses wit, strength and courage for the final battle. The Demogorgons are back again, but guess who finally found the courage to claim his powers? Will Bowers. The shy, timid kid defeats the monsters in episode 4 to save Mike.

Besides the visual impact and dialogues, an iconic playlist accompanies the narrative like it were meant to be there. Here are three needle drop moments from Stranger Things Season 5. In case you're wondering what we are talking about, it's the songs from timeless artists that fit the scenes perfectly.

Rockin’ Robin by Michael Jackson (1972)

This song is used in the very first episode, where Robin Buckley plays it on her radio station. Robin, who also goes by the name 'Rockin' Robin,' and Steve run a radio station called 'The Sqwak.' This is also a medium they use to coordinate with fellow members of the resistance during the Quarantine.

She plays the "Tweedily-deedily-dee" part of the song but it feels perfect for her introduction. Other than the obvious name, the lyrics offer a sneak peek into Robin's character, where she comes off as bold, outspoken and someone who is ready to go an extra mile for good.

Upside Down by Diana Ross (1980)

This is one of the best needle drops in television history. This is also used in the first episode, where Robin communicates from 'The Sqwak'. As the name goes, the song obviously has an underlying meaning related to the Upside Down world. So, what Robin does is use it in the most creative way possible.

She spoke about Diana Ross while this song played. Now, if you read between the lines, everything she said had coded messages which were deciphered by those part of the bigger plan. This is a clever approach because to the rest of the world, it was just random trivia and none would crack it except those it was meant for.

Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush (1985)

This classic has stuck with fans since season 4. You remember that scene where Max levitates in the graveyard, almost about to enter Vecna's Mind Lair? Dustin, Lucas and Steve quickly plug in her headphones to play her favorite song. This established a connection with reality.

Running Up That Hill gave her the strength to fight back even in her subconscious state. This song is used again in Stranger Things Season 5 as Max narrates her story to Holly and we discover that this song is no less than a lifeline for Max. The lyrics even stand as a powerful symbol for friendship and togetherness. This is a perfect needle drop for a series that thrives on shared bonds between youngsters.

Stranger Things Season 5's Volume 2 is set to air on Christmas Day and the Season Finale shall be released on New Year's Eve. A great end to 2025 for Sci-fi lovers, right?
