1) ER (1994)

NBC's ER was one of the earliest medical shows to pioneer this genre. Before George Clooney became a big name in Hollywood, his breakthrough role was as Dr. Doug Ross in the hit medical drama for five seasons.

Clooney was among the main cast and shared the screen with fellow actors including Noah Wyle, Anthony Edwards, Sheryl Crow, and Eriq La Salle. George Clooney's Dr. Doug started as a pediatric fellow in ER Season 1 and eventually became an attending till his departure in Season 5.

While Dr. Doug was a fan-favorite character, Clooney left the show in Season 5 to try his luck in Hollywood, and the rest is history. While that decision forever changed the actor's career trajectory, ER was the first major show to launch Clooney's acting career. His ER role won him four Screen Actors Guild Awards and many Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations.

2) Roseanne (1988)

Another hit sitcom and George Clooney's earliest role came in ABC's Roseanne. In Season 1, he played Booker Brooks and also returned for a cameo appearance in Season 4. Before Clooney became a megastar in Hollywood, the actor appeared in this hit sitcom.

Brooks was Roseanne, Jackie, and Crystal's boss, and while he was not much respected by his employees initially, they appreciated him eventually. He also had a secretive, short-lived romance with Jackie on the show. While Clooney left the show after Season 1, he appeared in Season 4 when Jackie reached out to her ex-boyfriend on Halloween.

According to Roseanne Barr, the makers approached Clooney about reprising his character in the Season 10 revival, but the actor turned down the offer.

3) Catch-22 (2019)

While Clooney shifted to Hollywood and seldom took parts on the small screen, his 2019 minor role in Hulu's Catch-22 is a treat to watch. The satirical dark comedy series, based on Joseph Heller's 1961 novel of the same name, debuted on the network on May 17, 2019, with six episodes.

Catch-22 follows the story of John Yossarian, who is trapped within 'absurd bureaucratic constraints on soldiers during WWII'.

George Clooney plays Major Scheisskopf in the show, who is eventually promoted to Colonel and then Brigadier General. While Clooney appears in a relatively minor role, Catch-22 is among the actor's recent roles on the small screen that shouldn't be missed.

Clooney shared the screen with other A-listers, including Christopher Abbott, Kyle Chandler, Rafi Gavron, Austin Stowell, and many more.
