Emily in Paris Season 5 wrapped with couture, chaos, and some burning questions about where she will go in the next season. Between career shake ups, romantic limbo, and some very messy situations, the show quietly dodged a few massive questions that fans are desperate for answers of.

As Emily steps into her next chapter, these unresolved threads are hanging around fans' minds as we anticipate her next move. Here are three huge questions Season 5 of Emily in Paris left unanswered, and why you are absolutely right to still be thinking about them.

Is Mindy actually going to go through with this wedding?

By the end of season 5 of Emily in Paris, Mindy technically has a fiancé. Nico proposed in Venice. She said yes. There is a ring, a celebration, and all the surface level markers of a romantic conclusion. And yet, nothing about Mindy’s storyline actually feels settled.

While Emily is in Rome, Mindy and Alfie drift back into each other’s orbit under the excuse of work. Even after returning to Paris, they cannot quite let go of one another. Right before they plan to tell Emily about their secret affair, Nico reenters Mindy’s life, begging for another chance. Old feelings resurface, and Mindy chooses hesitation. She decides she is not ready to go public with Alfie, which hurts him enough to walk away.

Meanwhile, Mindy gravitates back toward Nico after he makes a grand gesture by leaving his powerful family company to prove he can prioritize her. Later on, Nico proposes in Venice. Mindy accepts enthusiastically, but the certainty fades quickly. When Alfie later sees the ring, he tells her she is making a mistake. Mindy is visibly shaken but when Emily asks if she still has feelings for Alfie, she cannot answer.

The show ends with Mindy engaged, but emotionally unresolved. Even the creators describe her as someone who might be engaged. That wording matters. Lily Collins, who plays Emily Cooper on the show talked about their relationship and told Tudum,

“By the end of the season, everything really hits the fan: Mindy might be engaged, but there’s still tension with Alfie. It’ll be interesting to see how that drama unfolds.”

The chemistry with Alfie never fully dissipates, and both characters admit their connection was deeper than expected. Which leaves the real question lingering. Is this wedding a destination, or just another beautifully staged detour before the truth catches up?

Is Emily Cooper just going to end up with Gabriel?

Even after five seasons, the Emily and Gabriel train is still going srong. Although the season opens on a romance between Emily and Marcello, Gabriel and her arc still remains unfinished and Emily in Paris keeps leaving the door ajar for the man she met as a neighbor and loved first.

She first breaks up with Marcello when she mistakenly assumes he's going to propose and ends up rejecting him. That realisation hits them both as they break up on amicable terms, realising they want different lives that don't align even though they care for each other.

Now this is where Gabriel steps in. He first travels to Rome in the season's first episode to win her back, but when he sees her happy with Marcello, he leaves. When Emily returns to Paris after her breakup, their worlds collide again through work. She helps secure Gabriel a major opportunity, one that once again sends him away.

But the show ends on a very hopeful note for the couple. Gabriel, now a private chef on a billionaire’s yacht, learns Emily is single again. He writes her a postcard, something she once asked for, and invites her to meet him in Greece. The show cuts before we see her response, and that could be the driving force of the next season.

Darren Star has talked about how the door is always open for these two. Collins however, added,

“I don’t know what the future holds for Gabriel and Emily. I appreciated that they were able to say goodbye gracefully, without knowing what comes next. Emily is supportive of his adventures and career, and she respects his journey without interfering. That kind of graceful goodbye felt deserved for the characters, and I’m not entirely sure where it will go from here.”

So is Emily in Paris Season 6 going to be Emily in...Greece?

By the time Emily in Paris season 5 wraps up, the question is no longer whether Emily Cooper can survive another love triangle. It is whether the show itself is quietly preparing to pack its bags again. Paris has always been the emotional and aesthetic anchor of the series, but season 5 stretches that premise further than ever, ending with a postcard from Greece.

The fifth season ready intrduces Rome as a new character, which means, we might see more places soon. The season even has a temporary titlecard saying Emily in Rome.

With the last episode's last scene and Emily and Gabriel's last scene, it's now an eve more pulsating question: Will Emily accept Gabriel's invitation and go to Greece? How will this play out for her career?

Behind the scenes, that tease appears intentional. Director Andrew Fleming has openly confirmed Greece as a potential next location, as he told US Weekly,

“Assuming we’re picked up, I want to go back to Paris. But I want to go other places too. It’s teased where we might end up going at the end of season 5 — there’s a possibility we’ll be going there, to Greece.”

While creator Darren Star has said he hopes Emily will say yes to the invitation during a chat with Deadline. Netflix has not yet renewed the series, but previous renewal patterns suggest a decision could come quickly. If season 6 does happen, Emily in Greece does have a nice ring to it.
