It's been coming for a long time, but Andor Season 2 is finally here, and to nobody's surprise, it is better than ever. There's a reason Andor is considered the greatest Star Wars series ever, and season 2 seems to be keeping up with this tradition. Andor, a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, follows its characters through the lead-up to the Battle featured in the 2016 film, a fight for control of the Galaxy between the Rebels and the Imperials.

Andor Season 2 premiered with the first three episodes on April 22, 2025, which are now available to stream on Disney+. The three episodes were an artistic montage of drama, action, humour, and heartbreak.

Bix trying to put herself back together in Andor Season 2 after Dr. Ghost

We left Bix Caleen (played by Adria Arjona) in an extremely traumatic place at the end of Andor Season 1. She was at her lowest possible point after being brutally tortured by Dr. Ghost. Andor's concept of exploring fascism, trauma, and rebellion through its characters shines brightly, owing to the mature way in which the characters deal with these themes.

This is observed in the way we see Bix in Andor Season 2, trying to put herself back together, while struggling with nightmares and the consequences of her traumatic experience. The Bix we see in season 2 is similar to the one at the start of season 1, hopeful and strong even when she's struggling.

Here's what Arjona had to say about her character's growth in season 2:

"When we left Bix in Season 1, she was at the lowest point that someone can possibly be thanks to Dr. Gorst. So when we meet her for the first time in Season 2, we sort of see almost like a parallel version of Bix from Season 1, Episode 1. We’re (seeing) kind of a hopeful and strong woman. She's back in workwear, but there's evidence that Dr. Gorst is still haunting her. And it's going to take way longer than a year for her to get over this."

Cassian vs a TIE Avenger in Andor Season 2

Andor Season 2 has some of the funniest moments, and turns out they weren't even trying to be funny. Diego Luna explains this when he says:

"No, I think there's a lot of humor in this season. Not that we were looking or searching for it, but it's just implicit."

One such moment is in the first episode when Cassian, played by Diego Luna, is struggling with the TIE Avenger. Cassian is seen working with an undercover spy, who's as nervous as Cassian is sure of himself, even when he shouldn't be. Cassian is working to steal a TIE Avenger from an Imperial test facility on SIenar, and he sneaks into the cockpit of the ship, with no idea how to fly it.

Actor Diego Luna talked about this scene, explaining how it came to be:

"For that, we were not planning to do a comedic moment, but it is this man battling his ignorance, which makes it very fun. He's against the Empire and the big problem is himself. He doesn't know what to do with the equipment he's trying to fly. I think it's a very cool action sequence and action is much better when there's humor around."

Mon Mothma dancing with all the cares in the world on her shoulders

The scene that stands out as the first batch of Andor Season 2 episodes comes to an end is Mon Mothma in the middle of the dance floor as she is surrounded by chaos, both literally and figuratively. The scene might seem out of place amid all the action and suspense in the series, but it somehow manages to convey a deeper meaning.

Mon has to accept several difficult truths, that her childhood friend Tay Kolma is no longer trustworthy and might end up dead after Cinta chauffeurs him off. She has also basically just married off her daughter for finances to stabilize the rebellion. In the middle of the chaos in her mind, Mon chooses to be on the dance floor and control her chaos.

Actor Genevieve O'Reilly, who plays Mon Mothma in Andor Season 2, explained how this montage was an extremely important part of the first batch of episodes:

"It was an extraordinary day filming that, It was my second to last day shooting. It felt like a very beautiful crescendo, a big piece of the end of three episodes at the wedding. Tony and I have been (discussing) that perhaps from the outside, it looks like this beautiful Renaissance painting, but actually it's a woman trying to exercise the chaos that's in her brain. She's dancing to keep herself from screaming. So everything in there (has) layers, there is depth, there are questions."

These were three of the moments that stood out the most among the masterpiece that is Andor Season 2 so far. Check out the three episodes on Disney+ as soon as possible, because you're missing out on a lot!
