It’s been 6 years since the final episode of Game of Thrones aired, and yet, the fandom has not died down. While true fans of the show might never forgive the creators for butchering the finale, the fact that it started off brilliantly still holds true. In addition to all the twists, turns, love, and betrayals, one of the key selling points of Game of Thrones is its soundtrack.
Ramin Djawadi worked on the soundtrack and did a fantastic job with the background score, regardless of the gradual decline of the storyline. When it comes to Game of Thrones, a series with complex plotlines and intense emotions, Djawadi's background score skyrockets the sentiment to a different high.
The three iconic moments where the score elevates the emotion in Game of Thrones are listed below!

3 times Game of Thrones’ music was perfect
1.) Season 1, Episode 10: Fire and Blood
Robb Stark being chosen as the King of the North remains one of the most iconic moments in Game of Thrones. The music used in the episode was the Stark theme, and it perfectly captured the essence of sadness as well as determination.
Composed in minor keys, the Stark theme heightens the intensity of the emotions depicted in the episode. Since it takes place after Ned Stark’s execution, the grief is evident, but so is the joy and excitement at the rise of Robb Stark.
2.) Season 3, Episode 9: The Rains of Castamere
One of the most shocking and truly tragic episodes of Game of Thrones, the music in this episode is haunting and enriches the audio-visual experience. The Rains of Castamere is the song of the Lannisters, and the minute it starts playing, Catelyn Stark realizes that something is not right.
What follows is a gruesome act of destruction as Robb Stark, his wife Talisa, their unborn child, Catlyn, and countless other people are killed mercilessly. Amid the violent act, the music stands out as it not only highlights the scene but also adds to the horror of the events that unfold.
3.) Season 8, Episode 3: The Long Night
Another much-anticipated moment in the show was when the Night King was killed by Arya. While the Night King deserved a better ending, given the kind of excitement surrounding his character right from the beginning of the series, it nonetheless marks a significant moment in the story.
Regardless of the different opinions related to the treatment of the Night King’s storyline, the brilliance of Djawadi’s music in this scene remains undisputed. In a rare usage of piano, Djawadi builds up the music with minor chords, gradually leading to the final moment of confrontation between Arya and the Night King.
This episode is also marked with death and destruction, with the ongoing war, and Djawadi’s music elevates the tension and intensity of the same.
Game of Thrones can be streamed on Max.
