Chris Carmack played Luke Ward in the Fox teen drama The O.C. Ward begins the show as Marissa Cooper’s longtime boyfriend and the show’s primary antagonist, memorably delivering the line “Welcome to the O.C., b**ch!” to Ryan Atwood. A rich, popular water polo captain, Luke bullies outsiders and cheats on Marissa with Holly Fischer, contributing to her overdose.

His arc shifts after discovering his father Carson is gay, costing Luke his social status. Accepted by Ryan and Seth, he becomes a goofy, loyal friend, shows musical talent, dates Julie Cooper, and ultimately leaves Newport Beach for Portland after a car crash and emotional farewell.

Chris Carmack plays Atticus “Link” Lincoln on Grey’s Anatomy, the laid back yet emotionally grounded Head of Orthopedic Surgery at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Introduced in Season 15, Link’s backstory includes surviving childhood osteosarcoma, a painful parental divorce, and a deep aversion to chaos and conflict.

Professionally, he is innovative, compassionate, and brilliant, previously serving as the Seattle Mariners’ personal surgeon. Personally, his arc centers on love and family, including a complex relationship with Amelia Shepherd that leads to the birth of their son, Scout, and his eventual marriage to Jo Wilson, with whom he is expecting twins.

Nashville

Chris Carmack portrays Will Lexington on Nashville, a Texas born country singer whose journey becomes one of the show’s most emotionally complex arcs. Introduced as Scarlett and Gunnar’s neighbor, Will struggles as a closeted gay man in a deeply homophobic industry. His fear of coming out leads to a near suicide attempt, a publicity marriage to Layla Grant, and a painful on camera confession that devastates her.

Will later finds love with songwriter Kevin Bicks, publicly comes out in season three, battles media backlash, addiction, and heartbreak, joins a band with Gunnar and Avery, collapses from steroid abuse, and ultimately finds stability and love again with Zach Welles in the series finale.

Shark Night sees Chris Carmack playing Dennis Crim, who becomes one of the film's central antagonists in a horror thriller setting. He initially appears as a local, offering stranded college students a ride but is later revealed to be a part of a group that deliberately place sharks in fatal situations to film their deaths for entertainment.

The role shows his range as he takes a different route and plays a villain, showing Carmack's diverse acting skills.
