Without Tulsa King, the list would be incomplete. Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King follows the life of a New York mafia capo, Dwight Manfredi, who, after coming out of prison, moves to Tulsa, where he builds his own criminal empire. However, he finds solace in his partner Margaret throughout.

Dana Delany appears as Margaret Devereaux in Tulsa King. She is an equestrian, a trustee of the Annie Oakley Society, and also a horse farm owner. And to top it all, she’s Dwight’s loyal partner. When, in Season 3, Dwight wants Margaret to break up with him since any association with him would automatically place her in danger, Margaret disagrees. She sassily says,

"I ain't going nowhere."

Speaking to TVLine, Delany revealed,

"I think she likes that even though he is a bad boy, he has a code of honor."

Body of Proof - Streaming on Hulu

In this ABC procedural, Delany appears as Dr. Megan Hunt, an extraordinary neurosurgeon who reinvents herself as a medical examiner after an unfortunate accident. However, Dr. Hunt does not give up and helps solve some of the difficult cases with the help of her medical knowledge. The show’s all about the three Ms: mystery, medicine, and morality. Every episode feels powered by her intelligence. She turns what could have been a standard forensic drama into something sharper.

She makes Hunt flawed yet fierce, clinical yet empathetic.

It would be a crime not to include Dana Delany’s breakthrough role in the list. The series takes us back to the chaotic times during the Vietnam War. It follows the lives of medical professionals working far away from home. Delany appears as the determined and hardworking Nurse Colleen McMurphy. In this series, we get a sneak peek into what the raw and real life of women serving in war zones looks like.

Tombstone - Available for rent via Amazon Prime Video and Fubo TV

In Tombstone, she brings grace to the dusty chaos of the Old West. Dana Delany appears in this 1993 film as Josephine Marcus, a free-spirited theatre actress who catches the eye of the protagonist, Wyatt Earp, and becomes his love interest. Their chemistry is undeniable. The film roars with guns, pride, and smoke, but she brings the lighter elements to it. She doesn’t rush or pose, she listens, smiles, and holds her ground throughout. Delany makes Josephine real, restless, elegant, and sharp as gloss. She gives the movie balance.

The Union - Available to watch on Netflix

Netflix’s The Union spins a high-octane spy adventure around a group of outsiders, not CIA, not FBI, just ordinary people doing extraordinary things under the radar. Halle Berry stars as Roxanne, a cool-headed operative who returns to New Jersey and recruits a construction worker (and her high school sweetheart), Mike (Mark Wahlberg), to join a mission.

In this high-voltage action film, Dana Delany plays Nicole, a local teacher connected to Roxanne’s past, a grounding figure amid the chaos. Her screen time might be short, but it stands out amid the film’s chaotic plot.

More about Dana Delany's work

Delany’s work is about intelligence as much as emotion and feeling. She plays women who think before they speak, professionals, caretakers, skeptics, and even rebels. Her characters always have a history, even when the script gives them none. She adds emotional weight to simple dialogue, which makes her characters raw and relatable.

She is set to play Gloria in an upcoming project titled Basics of Philosophy.
