Actress June Lockhart was known as one of the last surviving actors of Hollywood's Golden Age. She turned 100 years old in June 2025, and on October 23, 2025, the celebrated actress passed away.

Lockhart had been part of the industry for almost 9 decades, starting to work in the early 1930s. Born to parents who had already made their names in the field of acting, Lockhart started working at a young age and was seen in numerous superhit films, TV shows, and plays.

This popular Christmas musical film will surely tug at your hearts with the story of the Smith Family. The film tells the story of the Smiths in the year 1904, before the World's Fair in Louisiana. While they were living a happy and content life in Missouri, Mr. Smith announced that they would have to relocate to New York for his business. This devastates the whole family as their life and education plans are destroyed. The film follows how the family copes with the new information and deals with it.

June Lockhart appeared in the film as Lucille Ballard. Due to her being Warren's date at the ball, Rose and Esther, the two eldest Smith daughters, tried to sabotage her dances. However, they later learned that she was a good person and not the snobbish woman they had thought she would be.

The film has a stellar ensemble cast which also includes Lockhart and has a story and performances that would make this everyone's comfort watch movie.


4) She-Wolf of London

This 1946 mystery-horror film takes the theme of the supernatural and creates a unique story centering on a young woman living in London. June Lockhart's character, Phyllis, was supposed to get married to her boyfriend, Barry. However, the occurrences of mysterious murders make her think that she was the reason behind the murders, due to a werewolf curse on her family, and she breaks up with Barry.

However, there was more to the story than the supernatural narrative. In a tale of mystery, betrayal, and love, Lockhart gives a performance that has made this film one of her most popular works.


3) Petticoat Junction

This popular CBS show ran from 1963 to 1970, and revolves around the Shady Rest Hotel and the people working in it, mainly focusing on the lives of Bradley and her three daughters. After Bea Benaderet, who played Bradley, passed away, June Lockhart was brought as Dr. Janet Craig for the last two seasons.

While she did not take Bradley's place in the show, she became a mother figure to Bradley's daughters, opened her practice in the hotel, and became an integral part of the show. The show is among Lockhart's best performances.

This heartwarming 1954 series tells the story of a dog named Lassie and her life and adventures with her human companions and animals as well. In the first 10 seasons, Lassie lived on the farm. Initially, with the Miller family. After their relocation, the Martins, Paul (Hugh Reilly) and Ruth (June Lockhart), begin to live on the farm. Lockhart joined the show in Season 5 and played the character until Season 10.

The show has many tender and heart-touching moments that will make you miss your pet, and is also one of the best shows to remember Lockhart by.

June Lockhart appeared in films and shows from many genres. Be it horror, musical, or drama, she showcased her talent in all of her works. However, it is this sci-fi film that is still one of her best works. The series focuses on the Robinson family, who are chosen to be taken to a futuristic spacecraft and will be living in space, due to Earth being overpopulated.

Lockhart plays Maureen, the matriarch of the Robinson family. She is also a biochemist and is often seen as one of the compassionate characters in the technology-oriented TV show.

Lost in Space is among the cult classic shows in the sci-fi genre, and Lockhart's performance will always be remembered for bringing a humane side to the storyline.
