Originally, she was meant to have a guest role but due to her captivating screen presence, she became a regular cast member. She received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her role as well.


Kill Bill: Volume 1

As the iconic O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill: Volume 1, Lucy Liu delivered one of the more memorable characters on screen. O-Ren is the leader of the Japanese crime organization Yakuza and led the Crazy 88. In this Quentin Tarantino movie, she portrays one of the assassins hunted by Beatrix Kiddo, aka the Bride, portrayed by Uma Thurman. The brutal, mesmerizing duel between the two characters stands out as one of the film’s most visually striking sequences. The role even got her an MTV Award for Best Movie Villain.


Elementary

In Elementary, Lucy plays Joan Watson, the impressive partner to Sherlock Holmes, played by Jonny Lee Miller. While the role is traditionally male, Lucy managed to make it iconic in her own style. Dr. Watson in Elementary is a former surgeon who later partners with Detective Holmes in New York City. Their collaboration is one of the highlights of the series.


Charlie’s Angels

Lucy first found her global success in the classic hit movie Charlie’s Angels. In the movie, she plays the role of Alex Munday, someone with martial arts expertise and strategic intelligence.
