HBO's action-packed series Dune: Prophecy is set to come to an end with its finale, Episode 6. So yes, it will be a short six-episode season for the viewers, with each episode expanding to more than an hour. The new episode will air on December 22 on HBO and be available to stream on Max.

Episode 5 of Dune: Prophecy ends with a revelation that Desmond Hart is of both House Harkonnen's and House Atreides' heritage and was abandoned by his mother at a young age. Therefore, Episode 6 will move to the showdown between the Sisterhood and Desmond Hart. One can only wonder about the challenges the last episode would bring before the Sisterhood restores its influence on humanity.

Max released the trailer of Dune: Prophecy Episode 6, which showcases some glimpses of what we can expect from the finale. The major events are about to come to a head.

A Mysterious Betrayal within the Sisterhood

The trailer showcases Valya Harkonnen confronting a mysterious betrayal within the Sisterhood. Her intentions with Bene Gesserit are expected to be challenged as a result of some internal dissent in the finale episode. Therefore, the lowest point for the Sisterhood is yet to come, with them having to flee their schools due to Desmond's actions.

Sister Francesca sleeping with Emperor Javicco

The preview of episode 6 showcases Sister Francesca sleeping with Emperor Javicco. Therefore, we can expect some light on Francesca's intentions behind imprinting Javicco after Emperor Corrino and Desmond. Her connections play a pivotal role in changing the emotional and political narrative within the Sisterhood.

A face-off between the Sisterhood and Desmond Hart

In the trailer, emperor soldiers are shown attacking their houses, and sisters are compelled to fight back. After the events of Episode 5, where Desmond finds out about Sisterhood's connection with one of the rebellions that posed an attack on him, Desmond will now come up with a full-fledged plan to fulfill his long-living desire to destroy the Sisterhood.

Answers to acolytes' dream about Shai-Hulud, the mighty sandworm of Dune

Throughout the series, the acolytes were dreaming about a revered creature, indicating a prophecy or a warning connected to the sandworms. The episode can come up with a connection to that. Desmond Hart's mysterious background could tie him to the sandworms’ symbolic power. The final shot of the trailer where Desmond appears in front of the sandworm supposedly indicates his connection to Shai Hulud in Sisterhood's narrative. Finding the connection might provide Sisterhood with the information to defeat Desmond and reclaim their influence over humanity.

A potential seed for season 2 (if any)

However, there has not been any information on whether there will be a Season 2 of the show. All the major events might come to an end in the finale. Therefore, it is difficult to gauge if having another season of Dune: Prophecy is necessary. But we can surely expect some answers to the question in the finale if they introduce any seeds for the next season.
