House of Lies

Created by Matthew Carnahan, House of Lies is a Showtime comedy-drama that aired for five seasons from 2012-2016 and followed Marty Kaan, a management consultant, and the team of management consultants he led. The entire team are known for being shrewd and ambitious in their professional lives, but the show makes a point to show us their personal lives as well.

Mekhi Phifer joined the show in season three as Andrew Collins, cofounder of a hip-hop fashion label. The show was created by Matthew Carnahan, who also executive-produced the show along with Jessika Borsiczky, Stephen Hopkins, and Don Cheadle.

Mekhi Phifer joined the show in a recurring role as Dr. Gregory Pratt in season eight, became part of the main cast for seasons 9-14, and was a guest star for season 15. Frequency is a mystery science fiction show, which took inspiration from the 2000 film of the same name. Airing from 2016-2017, the show follows NYPD detective Raimy Sullivan, who discovers she can talk to her deceased father through his old ham radio. She tries to save his life but ends up changing the present and thus has to fix her mistakes while solving a murder that is a few decades old.

The show was developed by Jeremy Carver and starred Peyton List as Raimy Elizabeth Sullivan, Riley Smith as Francis Joseph Sullivan, Devin Kelly as Julie Elizabeth Sullivan, and Mekhi Phifer as Detective (1996)/Lieutenant (2016) Satch Reyna, among others. You can stream Frequency on Prime Video.

Truth Be Told

Truth Be Told, the Apple TV series was created by Nichelle Tramble Spellman and is based on Kathleen Barber's 2017 novel, Are You Sleeping. It aired for three seasons, from 2019 to 2023, and followed journalist Poppy Parnell, who, after realizing she had put the wrong person behind bars for the murder of Chuck Buhrman, restarted the podcast that made her popular.

The first season followed this case, while the next two seasons followed different ones. The show starred Octavia Spencer as Poppy Parnell, Aaron Paul as Warren Cave, Lizzy Caplan as Josie and Lanie Buhrman, Elizabeth Perkins as Melanie Cave, Michael Beach as Ingram Rhoades, Mekhi Phifer as Markus Killebrew, Merle Dandridge as Zarina Killebrew, and Tracie Thoms as Desiree Scoville, among others in main roles.
