ABC's High Potential premiered in 2024 and has become one of the popular crime drama series on the network. The show follows the story of Kaitlin Olson's Morgan, a woman with 160 IQ, who joins the LAPD as a consultant after solving a difficult case for them.

Other than the mystery and intriguing narrative, Morgan and Detective Adam Karadec's potential relationship is also among the many aspects that have made people follow the show. In Season 1, the duo did not like each other. Karadec also doubted her abilities, but as the season progressed, they began working together, which showed how much chemistry the duo had.

This hinted at a bond that would grow even more in the upcoming seasons. However, Season 2 premiered on September 16, 2025, and has already released two episodes with no new development in their story. High Potential needs to focus more on Morgan and Karadec's relationship as it will bring more attention to the characters' emotional and personal sides, which would, in turn, make the narrative even more grounded and deep.

Here are 5 things High Potential can do to make Morgan and Karadec's relationship work.

1) Develop their friendship more

Morgan and Karadec's relationship was rocky at the beginning of High Potential Season 1. Karadec did not trust her as she was not even a cop. However, with her smartness and excellent observational skills, she began helping them with difficult cases, which made Karadec take her seriously, and gradually they became friends. The whole season is filled with fun banter between the duo, teasing a bond that could eventually form.

However, in the first two episodes of Season 2, the camaraderie between the duo felt missing. To make their relationship work, there should be more one-on-one moments between the two that would help them build a friendship, which could eventually turn into something more.

2) Building trust between them

In Season 2 of High Potential, Karadec, like the others in the team, wanted Morgan out of the case due to her growing obsession with the Game Maker. He did not have enough trust in her instinct, with which they eventually solved the case. At the moment, Morgan has been dealing with a shock after discovering that Roman was alive.

This serves as the perfect moment for the duo to deepen their bond by sharing their personal struggles and begin supporting each other emotionally as well. This would make their relationship deeper and serious, and not just limited to fun banter.

3) Introduce new obstacles to test the bond

In High Potential Season 1, Morgan was in a relationship with Tom. While the relationship was short-lived, Tom came back in the finale to share a dance with Morgan, who was already dancing with Karadec. Since there isn't much chemistry in that relationship, the new season should focus more on Karadec and Morgan's brewing relationship due to the intense chemistry between the characters.

They have become good partners and work well together in a professional setting. However, with the arrival of new Captain Nick Wagner, more challenges will be thrown toward Morgan. This storyline might help in bringing the duo together more, with obstacles created by Wagner for Morgan, and Karadec helping and supporting his friend. The narrative could be well developed into something more with the introduction of more challenges that could make the pair come closer.

4) Revelation of Karadec's backstory

High Potential has not revealed much about Karadec's backstory, other than that he was engaged to Lucia, who broke up due to his prioritizing his job. This could get more focus in the new season. In Season 1, there were small glimpses of his lifestyle and home, hinting at his personal life.

Therefore, season 2 might reveal more about his past. Furthermore, it would be a great moment in their budding relationship if Karadec opens up about his past and Lucia to Morgan, bringing them closer through shared vulnerabilities.

5) Addressing the Roman situation

In High Potential Season 2, Morgan has finally learned that her ex-partner, Roman, is alive. This new information will gradually impact Morgan's family and even her own self. This will also present an opportunity for Karadec to show support toward Morgan.

The new season should focus more on showing the challenges that Morgan has to go through in her search to find Roman, which will allow Karadec to become a helping hand for her in a time of need, not just Morgan, but also her family. This narrative will create emotional depth in the storyline and might help bring the characters together.
