The world lost jazz legend Charles Frank Mangione on July 22, 2025, at age 84. The flugelhorn player, trumpeter, and music composer died of natural causes in his sleep, aged 84.

According to a statement from Mangione's family:

“The family of Chuck Mangione is deeply saddened to share that Chuck peacefully passed away in his sleep at his home in Rochester, New York on July 22, 2025.''

Chuck formed the jazz combo called the Jazz Brothers with his sibling Gap, who was a pianist. In a career spanning 30 albums, Mangione was nominated for 14 Grammy awards and won two of them.

The late jazz legend released many hit songs during his life, and his most popular song Feels So Good is featured in many TV shows and movies.

Mike Judge and Greg Daniels' 1997 adult animated sitcom King of the Hill frequently featured Charles Frank Mangione's music.

In 1977, Mangione co-led the Jazz Brothers and released his jazz-pop single "Feels So Good", which achieved International success. The song also peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard albums chart and was frequently used in the sitcom, King of the Hill.

In addition to his music, Charles Frank Mangione also had a recurring voice role on the sitcom, where he played a fictional version of himself, who was a celebrity spokesman for the "Mega Lo Mart".


2) Magnum P.I.

While Charles Frank Mangione is not a credited music composer for this classic CBS crime drama, his music was frequently featured in licensed form in the episodes.

Magnum P.I. followed the titular private investigator (Tom Selleck) as he lived a private life in his beachfront estate in Hawaii and regularly helped in investigations and chases.
