The series is based on the 2014 film and narrates the story of Hiro and his robot, Baymax. In the film, we see Hiro befriending Tadashi’s friends and forming the Big Hero 6 team. The series focuses on the adventures of the team.

Jenifer Lewis voiced the character of Professor Grace Granville, the dean of San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, where Tadashi and now Hiro go. She appears to be strict but also cares about her students, especially Hiro, whom she knows has the potential to conquer great things but is also capable of putting himself in danger, due to which she is especially strict with him.

Friends is not new to celebrity appearances and Jenifer Lewis is one of the big celebrities in Hollywood. She appeared as Paula in episode 3 of season 1 where Monica introduces her friends to her boyfriend Alan, who surprisingly all of them happen to like.

She discusses this with her work colleague Paula, played by Lewis. Paula advises her to break up with Alan if she is doubtful about the relationship. However, it turns out, that it's her friends she is worried about after her breakup and not Alan.


5) Strong Medicine

In this medical drama, Jenifer Lewis played Lana Hawkins, the front receptionist of RWHC. Often appearing to be referring to herself in the third person, Hawkins was one of the most important characters of the women's health care center, who provided gossip and also sometimes donned the role of a matchmaker.

While working with Dr. Delgado, Hawkins turned her life around and went to school, earned a psychology degree, and worked again as a volunteer consultant in Delgado’s women’s group while working on her Master's.


4) Girlfriends

This American sitcom is about four childhood friends who try to reconnect after meeting again as adults while also navigating their personal lives. Jenifer Lewis played the character of Veretta, the mother of one of the four friends, Toni. She is described as loud, who often embarrassed her daughter with her flamboyant style, and also had a complex relationship with her daughter. Toni and Veretta portray a complicated bit, also a relatable version of a mother-daughter relationship, which makes their portrayal more compelling, due to which this show is a must-watch.


3) And Just Like That…

And Just Like That… came back for a season 3, bringing back several old and new characters and their contemporary problems and issues. In the recent episode of season 3, Lisa was going through one of the worst times as she discovered that her father died of a stroke and she could not see him for the last time due to her phone being on silent mode.

She then went on to meet the general manager of her father’s theatre, Lucille Highwater, played by Jenifer Lewis, who has opted to plan Lisa’s father’s funeral. Lisa tries to oppose it as she does not want the funeral to be a performance but is put down by Lucille for not coming to see her father for the last time. There’s a lot of bickering, which also turns a little hilarious and entertaining as Lewis never disappoints in any role.

The episode also depicts a performance by Lewis and should definitely be checked out.


2) Black-ish

The popular series narrates the story of an African-American man, who tries to live and raise his children in a mostly white community while also trying to fit in in the society. Jenifer Lewis plays Ruby, the overly religious and pro-black mother of Dre, played by Anthony Johnson, but has a complicated relationship with his wife, Rainbow, played by Tracee Ellis Ross.

Lewis has been nominated for several awards for her role in the series and is among the must-watch shows.


1) Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

The acclaimed TV show of the 1990s, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air had many characters that became fan-favorites. Aside from Will Smith’s character, Will, Jenifer Lewis’s character, Aunt Helen Smith was also one of the popular ones.

She was the cool aunt that everyone wanted and was often seen making fun of her brother-in-law, Philip Banks. While her character was one of the recurring characters, she was still regarded as the scene-stealer as her presence became the highlight of the episode.
