Father Hughes was a dirty priest who became one of the antagonists of Peaky Blinders Season 3. Following Michael Gray's activities, Arthur Shelby confronted and attacked Hughes. However, the Shelby family's reaction to Hughes' manipulation and corruption resulted in the most confrontation. In episodes 5 and 6 of the third season, Michael Grey rode after Father Hughes with Arthur's emotional support and aid. The priest had taken the life of the son of Tommy Charles and had given him back his son on condition of a colossal payment of jewels bought in Russia.

Michael assassinated Father Hughes in Season 3, Episode 6, the climactic ending. Arthur also played a role in this vengeance by encouraging Michael to take action against the corrupt priest. The beating of Hughes was a critical incident of Peaky Blinders since it helped to show how the family was ready to attack influential foes that threatened their family and other business aspects. Arthur's participation reflected his protective nature and volatile behaviour towards his family. This scene helped us realise that the Shelby family could be cruel and unpredictable. However, they wanted to defend an innocent family member when they were being attacked by someone.

Peaky Blinders Season 1 Episode 5 saw the reappearance of Arthur Shelby Sr., who had been away from the family for years. He said that he had transformed and joined a religion. Arthur Jr. was so thrilled to see his father and so eager for his love and acceptance. His father took full advantage of that when he invited his son to a secret boxing gym and said that he had a new business idea about a casino. Of course, it was all a ruse. Arthur Sr. badly beat his son in the ring, stole the money Arthur Jr. had made from crime, and afterwards said that the whole thing was a means of robbing his own sons.

This deceit threw Arthur Jr. into an emotional state. Later on in the show, he attempted to hang himself, but the rope broke and he managed to get away. This moment caused deep trouble in the Shelby family. Arthur's pain and breakdown made the gang unstable. He was their strongest fighter, and he was lost, full of anger and very dangerous to friends and enemies alike. His trauma now made him very dangerous to others, and the family was shaken.

During a big boxing match, his men attacked Arthur and left him looking dead. But this was part of Tommy's smart plan. Arthur was only hurt, not killed. Tommy used this trick to meet with Luca's mother and faked giving up everything. The plan worked.

Arthur came back alive and shot Luca at Tommy's distillery. This ended the threat from the Italian mafia. The return of Arthur was a sensation to all people, and it demonstrated the significance of Arthur to his family. Even though he was wild and impossible to control, he was the sort who rescued them. His strength and timing impacted the outcome of the conflict. Without Arthur, the Shelbys would have lost everything. That proved he was the true fighter of the family.

He told Arthur and John to catch Vicente at the docks before he could run away to America. They brought Vicente to an empty building where Tommy planned to torture him slowly. He wanted to hurt him badly for killing Grace. Tommy began the torture and made cruel threats.

However, Arthur could not watch it go on. He stopped Tommy and shot Vicente in the head to end his pain. Arthur said he heard the blackbird sing and showed mercy. This went against Tommy’s orders. Arthur told Tommy they were not men who should enjoy making others suffer. This moment caused trouble in the family. Arthur’s choice showed that Tommy could not fully control him. It also revealed weaknesses in the family's power. Adversaries could use this weakness to damage the Peaky Blinders.

Its staff and customers were scared of him. Arthur was unable to calm down, nor was he able to conduct himself in front of the world. He was broken inside, and that was transpiring in his actions.

The Garrison was a haven of the Shelby family, though Arthur had turned it into a torture chamber. Tommy recognised that Arthur's behaviour was affecting their business and putting everything at risk. Arthur's outbursts were making their family look weak. Enemies could see the cracks and utilise them. When violence was associated with the main Shelby pub, it threw off their power in Birmingham. The whole group felt shaky because of Arthur's chaos.

The barman was caught inside during the blaze. This was not just a warning. It was a serious crime. Anger made Arthur burn down the building. His actions brought police attention and risked the Shelby family's safety. The fire hurt innocents and showed that Arthur could not control himself. The family did not appear to be stable, and his violent decision jeopardised their business.
