Choosing movies and TV shows to watch have become intense due to the overwhelming amount of content availability. You want to watch a show while having your dinner but most of the time is spent in choosing what to watch and frustrated, you end up not watching anything and just adding multiple random TV shows to your watchlist which you might or might not end up watching.

However, there are times when you end up watching one of the TV shows from your watchlist that you had added, maybe a couple of years ago, and surprisingly liking it, resulting in another new habit that we have formed, i.e., binge watching. The 7 TV shows that I’ve listed in the article are some of the shows that I added to my watchlist randomly when they came out, but didn’t watch right away. However, when I began watching these shows, I couldn’t give up before finishing the series.

7 TV Shows I started watching randomly and couldn’t stop afterwards

7) Braindead

Braindead might have been canceled too early, but it was one of those TV shows that became popular after cancellation. The 13 episodes that aired in 2016 revolved around Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Laurel Healy agreeing to take a job as a constituency caseworker offered by her brother, Senator Luke Healy, to get funding for her next project.

While doing her job in the US Capitol, the documentary filmmaker stumbles upon a dangerous bug conspiracy where several members of Congress’ brains have been replaced by alien bugs, which also results in the untimely death of the members when their heads explode. The series focuses on Laurel trying to convince the others about her bug theory.

6) Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

Another of the random TV shows that I ended up watching and liking is the K-drama named Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. Starring Shin Min-a and Kim Seon-ho, the romantic comedy is a heartwarming tale about the two contrasting personalities that Min-a and Seon-ho’s characters depict.

After Min-a’s Hye-jin is let go from her job as a dentist due to not complying with her boss’s demand of overcharging her patients, she makes a spontaneous decision to open her own clinic in a small seaside village named Gongjin. Here she meets Seon-ho’s character, Chief Hong, a jack of all trades, who is always available to help the people of the village. The series depicts how a city girl like Hye-jin adjusts in the small village and falls in love with Chief Hong, who is hiding painful secrets of his own.

5) Merlin

While scrolling through TV shows to watch a fantasy show, I ended up discovering this 2008 series, Merlin. The show is based on the Arthurian legend and the Warlock Merlin’s story and their beautiful friendship.

Merlin, who keeps his magical powers hidden to live in Camelot where magic is banned, becomes King Arthur’s friend while trying to keep him out of many dangers. The show has everything a good fantasy show requires, from magic to dragons and good character arcs.

4) The Fall

Fifty Shades of Grey might have introduced me to Jamie Dornan, but this random show that I discovered introduced me to the acting range of Dornan. In this 2013 crime drama, also starring Gillian Anderson with Dornan, Anderson’s DS Stella Gibson tries to catch a serial killer, Paul Spector, portrayed by Dornan.

The drama is a psychological tale of the two individuals where Gibson tries to find evidence to keep Spector behind bars, while Spector, one of the biggest manipulators in the show, is drowned in the overconfidence of Gibson not finding any evidence to arrest him.

3) Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Another one of the random TV shows that I discovered while scrolling through Netflix is Demon Slayer. It tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, whose family is slaughtered by a demon, leaving just his younger sister, Nezuko, who turns into a demon but can still control her demon qualities and does not harm humans.

To cure her and make her human again and to fight the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps and begins his quest for a cure, accompanied by his demon sister.

2) Modern Family

With so many good sitcoms and TV shows available, I was sure to skip this one, but only after trying and watching a couple of episodes. But that got me hooked, and I had to finish all 11 seasons of the show that follows Jay Pritchett’s family living in the suburbs of LA.

Jay and his adult children, Claire and Mitchell, live with their own families. The show depicts the everyday life of these three families and the situations that they stumble upon, which are mostly humorous.

1) Fleabag

Fleabag is one of the best TV shows from the 2010s. The British TV series depicts the story of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character, known as Fleabag, and her life in London in a humorous light.

The dry-witted woman, often breaking the fourth wall to talk to her audience, tries to live her life after a family tragedy. While trying to tackle her grief, she also pushes away the people who try to help her in any way. Throughout the series, Fleabag finally comes to terms with her grief and tries to move on.
